Things That Make Us Great

"Use me!"
“Use me!”

The other night I got together with a dear friend. The main thinking of the night was going to be business oriented. And while we were getting together on it, I said something and he excitedly said “write that down”. I did. Here it is.

The things that made us great can connect us. Continue reading Things That Make Us Great

Always A Choice, Always A Chance

Often times on a Saturday I review the week I had. I think about what I might have done better. What went well. Even those “wow, where did that come from” moments. Most of those are good! Saturdays are often a day for me to reflect on my little pile of notes I accumulate, read through some things I want to cover and on most weekends plan on spending some time with a few grandchildren. Timing – The Beginning Of Process

leejohndrowteamLately, like many my mind has been on what we call process. The time, the steps and ingredients or things necessary to accomplish a finished product.

In people, process not only includes time, but may include revelation about God or oneself. It may in fact seem to take f-o-r-e-v-e-r! It may or may not include people. As you read through the Bible there is plenty of time to observe the result of process in a person’s or a people’s life. Continue reading Timing – The Beginning Of Process

Personal Responsibility Belongs To Someone

leejohndrowteamWhile much of the news and social media feeds is consumed with thoughts on bad movies, yoga pants and Speedos, the fact of the matter ought to go all the way back to the simple question of why. Why do we flame others over their thoughts and opinions? Why do we care? And maybe we can jump to “how did they arrive at that thought” or conclusion. Willing To Change

paultimothysilasYesterday while taking a day off, a friend and I connected. We agreed to grab lunch. We have been friends for a long time but with my new job, there are not the times to get together there once was.

We got there and sat down. Our conversation was all over the place and focused. But at one point we began to talk about my writing and my blog.I asked him straight up his thoughts and he provided them. Some I understood, others I had no clue and still others I had to get clarification on. Continue reading Willing To Change

Words, Words, Words

preachingatvillageOver the weekend I had two people share with me their contemplation over words they had received from me many years ago. I want to say I am encouraged when someone tells me they are standing on a word. Not necessarily my word, but any word they might have received. Why? Because I often think the world is a fickle place when it comes to words and the idea of “That was great! Can I have another?” Too often they would be better served getting a fortune cookie. So, as I said when someone tells me a word they are holding on I am impressed. Continue reading Words, Words, Words

Who Is Going With You?

2014-09-21 13.20.19“Great! Now what was I to do?” The machine guns (Who has machine guns???) were going off and had me pinned down behind one of the cars. I was safe but I needed to behind the one behind me to get to cover. Throwing some rocks in the air triggered another blast and a hail of of bullets. But they were short lived and I knew they were involved in reloading. I jumped across the hood of the car behind me, looking over to see what was going. While the new clip was now in I was behind the building. Continue reading Who Is Going With You?

Road Maps For Life

usmapWhy road maps? What ARE Roadmaps? It used to be we used road maps. Those amazing pieces of paper that once unfolded refused to be reassembled. But we knew how to read a map. And then we saw GPS enter the scene and now all you do is listen and trust. Unlike God, GPS has a fallibility factor. And forget reliance on your own set of skills. Nope, now you listen to “Sarcastic Sally” as she leads you by the nose to where you have to go. Continue reading Road Maps For Life

Stop, Drop And Roll – It Time To Overcome The Fire Of Fear!

"Use me!"
“Use me!”

A few nights ago, I was questioning my “existence”. I was not discouraged or depressed, but I definitely felt like there was a rabbit hole of sorts about me. My wife was away and God and I were having a pow wow about my life. Perhaps I had pulled out my checklist at some point. “This is good. This…not so much. This I do well. This is I stink at. Etc…” “Why am I here?” My “WISE” had turned to “WHYS”. Not necessarily the “bestest” of places to be. But I had to work through it. Wisdom Walks In Freedom

MarcelA true spiritual parent or mentor will ascertain the gifts and the strengths of an individual. They will also look to the weaknesses as well as areas of change that can be worked on. But in the end, they look at both and encourage an individual to move forward towards completeness, wholeness and His pathway of purpose.

In the early 90’s I worked for a retail company. I worked in a lot of the locations. I traveled here and there adding “maturity” to their workplace as well as expertise. It was during that time I met some young men who over time became “friends”. As I moved up in the company they often contacted me with their business thinking and some conversations about faith and such. Continue reading Wisdom Walks In Freedom
