Encourage Someone Today

How Do You Handle Adversity
How Do You Handle Adversity

Last night while “not sleeping” I meditated on the scripture below.

“…26 that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.…” Colossians 1:26-28I lay there thinking about the covenant God had made not with man, but with His son.  Would not favor and be extended  from the hand of God to His Son? Of course it would. “So, Lord, I am trying to get this” I thought. I am a resting place for favor, for His goodness.

A few days ago I spoke about the birthing process and some of the things I am seeing and observing. I see some who have just “checked out” and others who are just under terrible pressure.

I am one of the latter in this moment, this season. So many things have not “happened” as I have needed them to. My wife and I have had opportunities gone by, situations changed and people just “affecting” us. This is not going to be a rant as I will leave that to the many who operate on Facebook! I do not know why, but I do know that He is God.

And the Lord reminded me of this scripture.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

In the midst of the tremendous birthing, of this tremendous upheaval, we need to hear the encouragement of others. Am I the only one? I know I am not! Encourage one another. Christians should always seek to encourage and uplift each other. Our words and actions should “build up” those around us, helping them to get closer to God. It should never tear them down.

Women giving natural childbirth often have coaches or those about them encouraging them. The body of Christ needs the same.

I am not moving to works. I believe in the grace of God, the rest of His peace. That will not change. I do not lay in bed wondering “what will happen.” I lay in bed thinking about how able God is and what He has given us.

Government shutdowns, healthcare issues, loss of jobs, etc., are merely a season that God through His people can overturn at a point.  Those things do not “get me“ going.  What gets me going is my continuing understanding of why I am here in this moment, in this time.

Today, encourage someone. Change their atmosphere with the goodness of God, for it is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
