Heavenly Alignment – Where Are You?

bird nestThe last few months I have given great thought to “heavenly alignment.” What is it? What are the benefits? What are the results for being “there?”

The first thought that needs to be dealt with, is, where is God? “Omnipotence” is fairly easy to deal with. Revelations 19:6 says He is “Almighty.” “Omnipresence” slightly more. (We will deal with “omniscience” at a later date!) Where is God? One answer is, He is in heaven. Another answer is “He is inside me.” Is He there or here? The answer is both! And when we have accepted His payment on the cross, the knowledge that He will never leave me or forsake me is easy to understand.
So, why is it that some people get more than another? Why is it that there seems to be greater favor upon various people? “The Lord is not a respecter of persons,” said Peter in Acts 10. God does not play “favorites” in this case. In verse 35, “but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him.” God takes anyone who comes to Him. But clearly there are differences in who gets what and who doesn’t. So, why???

My personal meditations have lead me to believe it is about placement. In 1995 the Lord showed me a chess board where the Lord came and moved all the pieces, overturning the board. The travels of “kings, queens, bishops, etc.” was not the problem, but clearly placement was. In that same year I had a dream about a washing machine. The Lord ran folks  through a clean cycle, a rinse cycle and a spin dry cycle, but it was the agitator that changed the lives the most. (Hence you often hear me say every church needs an “agitator.”)

Why have you or I gone through so much? Why is it so painful? Putting aside bad choices and self inflicted problems, the answer is probably God loves you and I so much He will not leave us where we are at. Our comfortable, “I’m OK” attitude does not necessarily line up with the conforming of us to the image of Christ. When I was a young Christian, I went to a dear friend and made this comment. “The greater the call, the greater the anointing.” Tom looked at me and said, “the greater the call, the greater the purging.” In the midst of all the pain, all the trials and all the tribulations, the Lord is “working hard” to conform you to His image. For what? For His purpose.

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” God has a destiny. For you. For me. It is our “job” to discern what that is and walk towards it. Heavenly alignment. 2 Kings is an awesome chapter about Elisha and Elijah. Elijah was in motion, headed towards the final round up. The gathering up in a chariot of fire. What was happening was that Elijah “knew” that today was the day. And Elisha knew as well. So each time that Elijah said “stay behind” Elisha said “no thanks.” Two things were happening.

One is what I call the “shower” thought process. When my grandson Jacob was younger, He would avoid being in the center of the shower stream. He would stand off to the side, getting a little wet, but not rinsing wet. Being with God is somewhat like that. There is a “full stream” of God, where this a “manifestation” of God in a mighty way. (Have you ever been pinned to the bed or the floor by God? Myself and others have been. A place where God just keeps you in His presence. Now if He did that all the time it would be hard to work or get much done.) Perhaps the “favor” factor is in the center of the stream. Noah, Moses, David, even Mary in the New Testament found “favor” in the eyes of the Lord. But under a new covenant, all have the opportunity to walk in favor. So, is there a better place than another? Mark 16:20 might indicate so. “And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.”

Elisha found favor (Receiving a double portion. In the new testament, with all of Jesus, is there a double portion of Jesus…?”) because he stayed close. Elijah was swept up in a chariot of fire because He was in the right place.

Many have heard me say “peace is our referee.” Where peace is, so is the spirit of God. I look for peace. Lack of it, could indicate one of three things. God left the “room” and I did not follow. I left the room and God did not follow or the enemy is here, God is here, and this is a situation of “wherefore having done all to stand…”

I gave all these scenarios and background to lead up to here. The right place is the right place. Perhaps, it could be called the “sweet spot” of God. A few weeks ago many heard this said, “there is a shaking coming and all that can be shaken will be shaken.” The things in our life not in alignment, can and will be shaken. This is an opportunity to get in alignment. Do not think any place will be safe. Safe will be where God wants each of us to be. Where does He want you? Or me?

Joel said this “And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but Jehovah will be a refuge unto his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel.” God is our stronghold, BUT I believe there is a place for each of us.

If you have ever been to a chiropractor, they apply force to get your “bones” in alignment, alleviating pain, stress. There is an alignment with God. A plumb line. Amos recorded this “And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more; ” Do you know that peace is not the absence of activity, but the knowledge of God in the midst of turmoil? Peace is static. Peace is always making the “adjustment.”

Let us begin to apply this. You and I were created for a purpose. For a “job” with God. For a destiny. The purpose? To glorify God. Why do some things work better than others? Probably because some are God and some are not. Comfort is not faith. Comfort is knowledge of what is happening. Faith is… “Now faith is assurance of [things] hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.” THAT is comfortable. Do you recognize that comfortable often does not have peace, but is just…comfortable. “I have been here before and while it does not have peace, I think I know the outcome.”

You and I will definitely need to be in the right place. And there is a “right place.” The most dangerous place in the world can be the right place if God is manifest in it. The “safest” the most dangerous if God has “left the room.”

Years ago my wife taught on cities of refuge. God told Joshua “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses, ” Let me say this. I do not think a place like NYC that is welcoming huge problems would be a “good” place unless you are called there.

There will be centers of activity, ordained by God. There will be houses of prayer and cities of “refuge.” The reviving of prophets and apostles never let us, it just went unnoticed by some. These places will operate apostolically. They will affect cities and regions. The moves of God that were so present in communist countries will be seen. Angelic activity is upon us. There will be a linking of arms, a knitting of hearts and a declaring of His presence. Signs will appear in the heavenlies. They will happen in the earth. Do not think it will be the “same old, same old.” Things are shifting radically and swiftly. We are in awesome times. (Did you know “awesome” comes from the words to inspire dread, fear and reverence?)

You do not want to miss this. Go where God goes. Stays where God stays. Get in the “shower” of God.
