Have you ever struggled with the actions of others? Perhaps it was injustice, neglect or wrongdoing. I understand, but Jesus understands more. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that He went through hurt, pain and rejection and walked through it. The easy response to that statement is “but He was God!” And while that part is true, He left behind His godly attributes to take up earthly life as a man. A man who did not sin that He might be our Savior. A God who could sympathize because He had “been there”.

In the midst of pain, hurt and persecution we need God. A recent situation in my own life revealed the need for the one who can empathize, sympathize and understand my situation.

More and more people are coming to Jesus than ever before. More and more of them will need to know the Jesus who cares, who understands. To find mercy and grace in our time of need.

The greatest move of God is before us. We can not open a newspaper without seeing the tragedy, the hurt and the pain. In the midst of all of it, I find great comfort in the community of friends who pray and love me. Yet I find the greatest comfort in the fact that He cares. That I am not infinitesimal in His sight. That He holds my life in the palm of His hand. That He is the Lord of goodness.

Folks will talk about the “dark night of the soul” where they wrestle with the pain, the hurt and the injustice. How comforting to know that God will never leave you nor forsake you?
