Which Way Do You Lean?

preachingatvillageThis past weekend I had the privilege to speak in our local fellowship, The Village Church. But whether I preached or not, I would not change the fact that I believe people can live better, freer and wiser in their lives just by changing their “dependency”. Their dependency? Yes. Where their dependency is on is where they receive advice, counsel and understanding.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

This morning I awoke early and I was thinking about the fact that there are two things I have been noticing or becoming more aware of lately. In each case the enemy of our souls was robbing people of their destiny and their relationships. I saw the insidious isolation coming in to their lives causing fear of relationships and the inability to achieve what “could be” by allowing the “what is” of the day to be empowered. Can I just say STOP?

It does not have to be that way!

Many years ago while speaking in a meeting where I had a number of Viet Nam era veterans in the meeting. It was then I heard the Spirit of the Lord tell me “these men have been cursed for their duties in Viet Nam. There were word curses that were spoken over them. They are the inability to have long standing relationships, to always be angry and to never be able to ‘settle’, always moving on.” (I learned later as I talked to men who had been there the source of these word curses.)

One day while having lunch with some ministry friends, I had a conversation with a friend who had been a Viet Nam veteran and was walking in life as a minister. He had been in ministry for 20 plus years. As I shared what the Lord had shown me, he began to cry. He got up after my prayer and got in a friend’s car. He came back hours later and told them he had suffered all of these things. He was free! (And continues to be some 10 years later.)

Folks-there is a spiritual side! But it has been overcome. Our job is to enforce the victory from which we come.

As I have watched over the years I have watched people trade earthly “reality” for the true realities of kingdom and heaven. Heaven is more real than earth! But when you can’t or don’t see it you choose to be dependent on the earthly things in life, leaning to your own understanding. But when you get a taste, encountering the goodness of the one who loves you, you become dependent on Him and His greatness!

The difficulty with being dependent on a person and not God, is that the person can and most likely will disappoint or fail you at some point. That cause a reaction that will begin to veil trust you have carried and remove innocence you are destined for. But when you align yourself with God and lean on Him, you will not be disappointed because God can not fail! And when your leaning is on Him and not man, you will have higher quality relationships and make wiser decisions. Your destiny will be revealed and shine like a beacon in the night. Your relationships will be healthier and more fulfilling

Take your lack of trust and dependency on man and give it over to the one who can be trusted. The one who will never leave you nor forsake you. Let the God of your destiny reveal to you today the depth of His goodness!

A supernatural encounter is headed your way!
