You Want Me To What?

leejohndrowteamI have been around the Kingdom long enough to know that you and I will always have the opportunity to trust or not to trust. To believe or not to believe.

So what is trust?

The simplest definition of “trust” from the Merriam-Webster dictionary is this, “firm belief in the character, strength, or truth of someone or something”. Living in a world where so many do not use a dictionary (or know how to) it is easy to get wrapped up in multiple meanings of words based on opinion. (”I don’t think it means that.” “Semantics.”) It is important first and foremost to know what is being said or defined to make sure communication is open and clear.

A “firm belief”. The Bible talks initially or “first mention” about trusting in God.

That is what I am discussing today.

Too many are living in fear because trust is not implemented. Trusting God requires a belief that He is good and not out to get you. (You may not always be able to discern from the messages one sees or hears.) He loves you and is desirous of you to know that. To receive his goodness.

The belief that He is not going to let you down.

Ask yourself all the questions as to why would God let you down. Most answers that instill distrust are relegated to: “I don’t deserve it.”, “I asked and He did not answer.” Bad Bible teaching. Not taking the time to find out who God is.

I understand there are times when it would be easy to thing “God left the room”, but personal experience does not mean God is not trustworthy. We have allowed too many goofy teachings to enter our thinking in order to justify our position rather than trust in the “higher” position of God.

One of the simplest ways to see fear begin to go away is to crack open that Bible and begin to see God for who He is. Much fear comes because folks do not know who God is.

“Easy for you to say” you might want to say. “You don’t not know what I have done or what I have been through.” Agreed. I do not know what you might have encountered or done. Doesn’t matter. God is trustworthy. Your choice to not believe that or accept it might make you feel better about somethings but in the big picture you will lose out on the quality of life you could have.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.…

Think about that. What areas could you hand over to God that keep you up nights with worry, filling your day with anxiety?
