This last week completed a very important season in my life. It was one of submitted obedience for me. To stop doing something I had done for years and change my focus. It caused me to be pulled into another world.
What was it you might ask? It was writing another book, this time on fathers. And because of my schedule it added the fact that each morning I would only have until 7AM to get what I was going to do, done. Whether I awoke at 5 or 6 that is all the time I would have. You must create your dream in your own imagination, in the darkroom, where it is without form and void. God loves to have you in the place of uncertainty because you are operating in the dark. You’re operating without material facts. You are operating…
In recent days I have had numerous conversations with folks about business, community and our country and what they think they can do to “change” things. While many are the ideas that are “floated” about, it is clear that a “back to basics” approach is being sought. Last weekend’s Memorial Day parades and festivals brought out even more desire in community members to see more community events.
I am the son of generations of military men. They were proud people who wore the uniforms and respected the flag and what it stood for. A few years ago, I met with an area business man. He shared how he was “tough” about a lot of things, but when a five year old asked him to sing the Star Spangled Banner and that she would “do a good job” he said it was an emotional moment. (I watch with an eye at the idiocy and bigotry surrounding the recent singing by Sebastien De La Cruz.) Continue reading Flag Day→

March 17th about 11am I decide to hike out into the woods to a spot where I saw a moose the previous week. I dressed fairly lightly thinking I would build up a sweat. The hike is about a quarter mile flat then heads uphill. I took my cell phone knowing I don’t get very good service but more for the picture taking and my wife Jeanne has asked me to take it. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.- 2 Corinthians 12 8-10Continue reading Strength From a Broken Place→
My friend Pat and I are fellow prophets. We function in the grace given by God in Ephesians 4:11 as prophets. And yet, we are by far different in our words, our demeanor and our process. Still we are great friends. Some years ago, another friend described us as Zechariah and Habakkuk.
A few months ago, I tabled the idea that we ought to pick a topic and write on it. Not talk to one another about it but write our thoughts out and share our sides, our thoughts and our voices. Finally we have done it!
