To Bee Or Not To Bee A Pro-Vision

leejohndrowteamBumble Bee Dance

On Saturday night I was lying on the bed waiting for my grandchildren to finish brushing their teeth and as I lay there waiting to pray with them a I saw a bumblebee appear. It began to figure 8 in the air. I began to meditate on the appearance of a bee. The children came in to pray and the bee buzzed away. Continue reading To Bee Or Not To Bee A Pro-Vision

How Has Your Garden Grown?

leejohndrowteamIn early 2009 I wrote this. Why recycle things? Because some times our revisit of history reveals things. At least it does for me. It may show me “son, this is not the first time I have talked to you about this.” Or it may show that things happened the way I or others saw it or perhaps they happened, not as we might have seen. Find A Field And Put Gold In It

What if...
What if…

I find myself so easily enthralled with what is good. And so desperately engaged by “what is wrong”. What is good where I live is more what I seek than what is not. It is not about being an ostrich and sticking my head in the sand, but being caught up in the good that is there. Continue reading Find A Field And Put Gold In It

The Whys Of The Wise

"Use me!"
“Use me!”

Sixteen years ago I wrote the following article. Amazing how much has changed. I value “why” more than “how” or “what”. I value action because “I can” and not because “I have to”. I control my time and not the other way around. I love more.

5/14/98 Action/Reaction

Yesterday, Tina and I had a conversation over action versus reaction. I told her that I wanted to be actionary, as so much of what I do as a pastor is from a reaction position. Continue reading The Whys Of The Wise

What Were You Created For?

preachingatvillageToo often in our lives, we come to the place where something no longer makes sense and we want to give up. Perhaps it is loss or injury or illness. But it takes the life “out of you” and you want no more.

I recently began something new, something different. In this case the casualty was my creativity. What I do has little opportunity for creativity or coloring outside the lines. Continue reading What Were You Created For?

The Seeds Carry Life

2014-03-15 11.16.51Buying seeds…

Some of you have read my story about the “mill pond garden”. I was out of control, to say the least. My own home, a dog, a relationship and life. And it was spring. It was time to put in a garden. And I needed seeds. Well, part of the good news was that my family owned a store. And in that store was a large rack of seeds. Charles Hart Seeds. And so the garden began its first look at life. Fenced In By The Lord

leejohndrowteamContinuing on with the “garden series”. Thank you so much for the comments and thought process you have shared. To read others, simply click the “garden” category at the top.

As I drove home the other day, I drove by a beautiful little home with what clearly was going to a awesome garden. And it was fenced and had covering over it as well. The way it was designed the garden would not see larger animals like deer. On the lower part there was net that would appear to keep smaller animals out like rabbits and such. And certainly no birds would attempt to fly through the netting that hung over the trellises. Now, while I recognize this was going to be a beautiful garden who was going to get to see it? People would not be able to see through the netting and such. Sometimes that which you erect to keep others out does much to keep you in… Continue reading Fenced In By The Lord

Someone Had An Idea For A Garden

leejohndrowteamContinuing on with the “garden series”. Thank you so much for the comments and thought process you have shared. To read others, simply click the “garden” category at the top.

To have an garden, you have to have an idea for it first. And before any garden can be put in place, someone has to have an “idea” for garden. Now God was the original “I want a garden” someone. One day (Well, before time was “real” …) God decided He would create a garden called Eden. And in that garden He had a plan for people, specifically Adam and Eve. A garden with people. He had an idea for it. Continue reading Someone Had An Idea For A Garden

Have You Really Thought About What Helps You To Grow?

tomato-gardenAnother piece in the garden series. No topic in recent days has been more in need of wisdom than this one for me.

Living In New England, you often get the opportunity to smell the fresh manure that has been moved about at a farm or spread on a field. (And truth be told, some farms smell better than others!) Well, no story of a garden can take place without fertilizer and that means even the “spiritual garden” we often speak of. Continue reading Have You Really Thought About What Helps You To Grow?
