As I related to a friend a recent situation in which I had given a word, I could feel the chills. Why chills? A while ago a person received a word from me. The word involved lots of changes in this person’s life. And they acted upon it!
So, why the chills? People making a decision predicated upon a word, a dream, an impression. That is a big deal! It was not all that long ago that I made one of those decisions on something. There was no confirmation, guidance or even encouragement. I had left the “mother ship” and was free floating in space!
When I receive a word for someone I often am just telling what I see or hear. As I walk through a word it often goes places I am not thinking about or looking at. Frequently I wander on to things that I am not sure about or able to recognize what the meaning is or how to describe it
When we are carried by love. Driven by love. We move things that have not been movable in the past. We cause things that have been stuck to become unstuck. To become free.
Too many have attempted to prophesy out of hurt. From a place of anger. Clothed in darkness and misunderstanding.
Imagine my surprise to find out the person who had received the word had upended their life. Made tons of changes. While it was “their deal” I became nervous.
It was not all that long ago I made a major change fraught with ramifications, if I were in error. It was not until 5 days before the day that God revealed His self. (Wow! Was that fun! Not really…)
I believe that love overcame the possible disaster.
One of the greatest, if not the greatest power, is that of love. I have determined to err on the side of love. To speak from the place of love.
Our words have power and they ought to be consumed with love. Fortified with grace.
In the coming days there is a growing voice of discontent and dissatisfaction. I hear it often. People of God are to be those who carry peace and invoke love.
Our prophecy ought to be from a place of love and not judgment. Life and not death.
If we are to restart the engines of change in our lives, our communities and our nations, we must operate from love. What is the thing that needs to move? Needs to change? I think it is important to evaluate the well worn paths of our life and determine have we ended up in a rut (a coffin with the ends kicked out!) or have made the changes in our life predicated on the pull of love?
Love is the power to move mountains and faith is the belief to speak it. Lack of love may in fact be a “governor” of sorts on our words. Their effect.
If love covers a multitude of sins, than it truly has the power to change everything!
