When I was a small child, perhaps 3-4 years old, I awoke one night frightened. Perhaps it was something outside my window or something I could not figure out. But, what I did know, was that my parents were but a few doors away, right down the hallway.

So that is where I headed. To the safety and comfort of my parent’s room…except there was a monster. A large one with tentacles…right in the hallway. This was not going well. And then it started to “breathe”. And “move”! I went back in my room, closing the door, but I “heard” it. A while later I opened the door again. It was still there! But it was quiet…and then it started to move and breathe. (Whatever caused me to want to see my parents was long gone in my mind.)I stood there. Finally, the desire to see my parents was greater than my fear. I ran! It grabbed at my leg! Finally I made it into the bathroom, turning on the light. There it was! The household vacuum cleaner! Now to see my parents…

The mind is a powerful place. Channeled properly, it can change the world. Improperly…life can be rough.

Too often, we desire to “get to God” (Forgetting He is always there!)and we allow our mind to view circumstances as an “inability” to reach Him. My parent’s room never moved.  (And I was in their home!) They were willing to comfort me, had they known the depth of my concern. God never moved away from you! He will never leave you nor forsake you.

So, the real question becomes what have we put in the way? I am not talking about sin. But what of the situation that has created fear. “Does He love me? Does He care? Why doesn’t He fix this?” And more… Our fears often get in our way of the truth of God because of a circumstance or situation. It is easy to “blame” God. But what is the value? What is the increase? Nothing, that I see. A false sense of security and a deeper reliance on self, rather than God. That is devaluation!

Do not let circumstances or fear get in your way of the Father’s love towards you. Do not fall victim to the tentacles of a toothless, innate enemy. Do know the Father is there to comfort you. To bring you peace.

I have come to the conclusion that many would rather believe their own press, their own understanding rather than embrace the reality of the Father’s love. Why? Fear. Embracing the wrongful reality that they might be turned away, rejected.

Do not let your monsters and villains keep you from the truth. God loves you! He is going to keep on loving you! Today put your fears on hold and make an announcement. No monster will keep me away from YOU! And now monster will stand in the way of Your love for me!
