Years ago a friend of mine shared that when I was in a difficult time, “God Will Pull You Through If You Can Stand The Squeeze”. I thought, “thanks!” (Actually “thanks” is exactly what He was looking through.)
Last night as we prayed for a friend, a young friend, Brittney O’Connor shared this story about the octopus. She had seen this while we were praying.
In an experiment, researchers put an octopus in an artificial environment and put it under pressure. The only option it’s given is to go through a series of tubes the size of the only bone in it’s body. The octopus flattened it’s body, tentacles first, and tentatively felt it’s way through to make sure there was no danger in front of it. At the end of the tubes, the octopus was rewarded with an open but safe area.
Again the octopus is put back into the artificial environment with the same series of tubes, but the octopus immediately knows where the opening is and goes through the tubes without hesitation, cutting the time in half to get to the safe area.
Much like this experiment, we are in circumstances that we have to walk through with faith. And we are hesitant with every step we take, not knowing where our faith is ultimately going to lead us. With God’s “series of tubes”, it will lead us to an open and safe area.
When we are put under pressure, instead of continuing to be hesitant of the steps of faith we take, we need to just go and know that the walk of faith we took before led us to greater and better things. Being hesitant only takes more time to get there.
This ball could keep rolling into why we’re being put under pressure and feeling out our faith etc.
Brittney is an amazing young woman of God. This is just one touch of the depth she carries. Proud to share her work and her words! Let her know you appreciate her, her words and her wisdom.
