Last night our home group was on the topic of Hearing God For Your Family. Frankly it is an emotional topic because we came from family! Perhaps in your mind it was non-existent but somehow some way there was a parent or two, which means grandparents. Family.

The heart of God is principled in family. It is one of the greatest overriding statements of the scriptures. For as the Father and Jesus were one, much of the Bible talks of family. Good families, evil families, dysfunction, service and honor. Clearly the people of the Bible were… well people!

Having 5 children you learn how to pray. Having 7 grandchildren you learn even more about prayer.

As I shared with our group, my number 1 preface was to be CALM. Calm down. Allow peace to overtake you. Relax. For as much as you want an answer, God wants to give you an answer. Rest in the fact that God’s promises to you are His desire for you. Find out through the scriptures what God has to say about it. The word of God will provide you insight to His love, His character and His leading.

His heart is for your parents, your children and your siblings. He wants to give you an answer. An answer of promise and goodness. Wait for it.

The more time you spend with Him, the less opportunity for worry and urgency to overtake you. Relax in Him. He wants His child to be with Him. To hear His voice. To have peace. To receive wisdom.

When you come to that place; you are in a place to hear, to digest, to process and to produce. I tell all that I share with to test the origin of the “word” you are hearing. Because we are talking about hearing from God  Here is a thought. The Hebrew word for true prophecy is naba, which literally means to bubble up, whereas false prophecy is ziyd meaning to boil up. True words from the Lord will bubble up from our innermost being; we don’t need to cook them up ourselves. Determining the source of your answer is helpful in putting it in motion.

So often people come to me about members of their family and when I hear their statements, I often find that their direction is not Biblical in nature. Know the word of God. Know the Father. To know those things provides the discarding of untrue and faulty words. (How many children can tell you the results of practices not in keeping with the scriptures alone?)

Anything God says to you will be in harmony with His essential nature. The scriptures help you discern what is Him and what is not.

Not everything is urgent, today or immediate. Worry is over rated!

When hearing for a family member, test the fruit of what you are hearing. What effect does what you are hearing have on your soul and your spirit?

And finally, you need friends of spiritual character and wisdom. I am so thankful for those that have walked with me during death, accidents and destruction. People who practice the thoughts listed above are important, because in your emotional state you may well want to move past the answer. Friends keep you where you need to be if you will let them.

Family has emotional times for many. It is not that there will not be painful times, but the bigger questions is, what will you do with the situation? God has your answer.

I have prayed for families a lot. I see that family is the answer. To not see that is somewhat anti-Christian in its process. God has a family. He wants a bigger one.e wants you to have a family.

Hearing God for your family is what will overturn communities and regions. Listen to His voice. He will not deceive you.
