Last night I had a dream that seemed to “run” all night. When I awoke this morning, I wanted to go back to sleep. There is a lot to process and lot to think through, but here is one of the biggies.
What? Me? I am not ready!Too often we see our self being called in to something that we are not thinking we are ready for. A key is, that if God is calling, He is not concerned with what you believe readiness is. It is at that point your position in life, place in the community or background no longer means anything. God is lifting you up and it is about what He desires to see accomplished.
That is the call of God that brought folks like Peter, Esther and Gideon out into the light.
I am NOT talking about going and doing something just because “you can” but about waiting to hear His voice. Now having said that, do the things along the way that change lives about you. Whether it is baking cookies at Christmas or giving someone a ride.
Last night as I sat in a leadership meeting and listened to the testimonies, so many were about “life changes” in a individual or lives being touched or influenced by someone. Maybe it is simply the season, but I sense there is a lot of this going on. Lives that are being touched by people who simply love Him.
I think the news leads you to think that the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Meanwhile, each day I see evidence of exactly the opposite. I see the redemptive power of God being released in a people, in a community.
It is easy to look around and see that you “are not ready” and yet what is happening that you are not ready for? Speaking to a neighbor? Praying for a co-worker or schoolmate? Baking cookies? I know a lot of people have been convinced of the fact that if it is not WOW who is counting? Humble beginnings? Look at Jesus…who would have known? (Well, except for a sky full of angels, mom and dad and bunch of kings…)A past? Did you forget Paul once called Saul was a murderer? Last week in our fellowship, a friendly Fedex driver invited a school to church. Two bus loads of youth showed up.
I am reminded of what Casey Kasem would sign off each week from his radio program. “Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars.” A voice of hope. To people in desperation or trouble, your voice is a voice of hope. Your cookies break down the walls.
Think the world can’t change? Watch!
