Life is to be lived. As I woke this morning, I thought about the things that do not live and the energy folks put into them. It may be a phone, a website or a program. I am not saying “do not use” or enjoy, but what is life in the midst of it?
The next few paragraphs that are “snap shots” of the week. I am certain you will see the thread.
This week I overheard a conversation where a person said “I know how Robin Williams feels”. Clearly I was hearing someone discouraged, depressed and in anguish. Honestly, I wanted to avoid the workplace situation. But after a day or so of it smoldering in my heart, I reached out. Off came the work “shield” and on came something from God.
Another young person who tries to be “big and bad” was near tears as I reached out to her in the hallway with some simple words. As I watched her “melt” I knew God was highlighting her. Another person walks very similarly, and yes, God is highlighting her as well.
A phone call with a client resulted with the man sending me an email “you are easy to talk to. You could be a counselor or something.” Uhhh…no! (My probing questions are not the ones I read in the manual!)
Let me be honest when I say, the workplace is not easy for me. The work is the antithesis of who I am. I would rather cruise, than have to develop lists, agendas and folders. But in the midst of it, I know what God called me to function as.
And that is really it. You can have things and rely on them OR you can have God, rely on Him and see Him do amazing things through you.
I am not seeking “more” ministry but I am seeking more God. My life is to be lived. And so is yours.
Perhaps the one thing I desire to say to folks is “do not be discouraged”. Do not “let go” of the dream. And most of all…relax. Just get off the treadmill of “have to’s” and relax. Determine to enjoy life and what it holds.
I read this verse in Ecclesiastes this morning.”I also saw something else here on earth: The fastest runner does not always win the race, the strongest soldier does not always win the battle, the wisest does not always have food, the smartest does not always become wealthy, and the talented one does not always receive praise. Time and chance happen to everyone.”
Relax. There is joy!
