Too often I and others have sought answers rather than Him. Perhaps our question ought to be a pursuit of Him.
Over the years I have watched people seek the Lord for “answers.” We have made formulas for how God is to answer. “God answers ‘yes, no or maybe later’” is an example of what we have built upon. We have told people that we can have whatever we ask in keeping with Jesus’ word. So many things we (And I say “we” because I have participated in them.) have set up as rules…in a kingdom where there are no rules. If asked “is this how God works?” my answer might be yes at the time. But at others no. Why the reason for my apparent “have it both ways” you might ask. The reason is God is not a God of rules but of relationship.Too many have been introduced to theories and thoughts from “3 ways to receive answers” to “fasting for answers” and more. My experience is people often walk away with their hearts “broken” and their thoughts about God destroyed at some point. Others will make up methodology as to why God did not do something. No area is it more rampant than in the area of healing.
How many have lost someone to cancer? To sickness? I have. I know the pain. I also know God says “all” were healed, so the answer to healing is His ever established word that He desires people whole, healthy and healed. So what do we do when it does not happen? I have come to the place where I move on. I know God heals. I know He has made provision for it. I know He has not changed His mind, so I will not change mine. He loves me. Loves you. Wants people healed. And that is it. Period. So when it does not happen I do not stop. And “ironically” I see more people healed.
So much of what we “ask” of God has been given over to us for us to carry out. He has not changed His mind about things just who is to carry it out.
And I have found that because He loves me, He is not always in the “yes, no, maybe” game. He is looking to establish me, mature me. He is looking for me to move from the place of faith He has established in me. His faith in me, through me, expressed by me. Not by my experience, but by His.
I prefer the relationship side of God. Read about Him. Find out what He has given over to you. Find out what He is doing and plug into that.
From DL Moody…
From Sovereign Grace Its Source, Its Nature and Its Effects by D.L. Moody“The Law was given by Moses.
Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. The Law says—This do, and thou shalt live.
Grace says—Live, and then thou shalt do.The Law says—Pay me that thou owest.
Grace says—I frankly forgive thee all.The Law says—The wages of sin is death.
GRACE says—The gift of God is eternal life. The Law says—The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Grace says—Whosoever believeth in Jesus, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in Him shall never die.The Law pronounces—Condemnation and death.
Grace proclaims—Justification and life. The Law says—Make you a new heart and a new spirit.
Grace says—A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.The Law says—Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Grace says—Blessed is the man whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sin is covered; blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute iniquity. The Law says—Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.
Grace says—Herein is love: not that we love God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. The Law speaks of what man must do for God.
Grace tells of what Christ has done for man.The Law addresses man as part of the old creation.
Grace makes a man a member of the new creation. The Law bears on a nature prone to disobedience.
Grace creates a nature inclined to obedience. The Law demands obedience by the terror of the Lord.
Grace beseeches men by the mercies of God.The Law demands holiness.
Grace gives holiness. The Law says—Condemn him.
Grace says—Embrace him.The Law speaks of priestly sacrifices offered year by year continually, which could never make the comers thereunto perfect.
Grace says—But this Man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever . . . by one offering hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. The Law declares—That as many as have sinned in the Law, shall be judged by the Law.
Grace brings eternal peace to the troubled soul of every child of God, and proclaims God’s salvation in defiance of the accusations of the adversary. “He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment (condemnation), but is passed from death unto life.”
Grace simply and clearly speaks of God doing for you. I encourage you to see this clearer this day.
