A Springboard To Faith

heargod2This has been a week where faith has become the big topic. (Well, that and don’t let fear rock your boat.)For me one of my widest read articles this month was my article on faith. Faith is somewhat the “holy grail” of the church. People talk about it like it is mystery. And yet, at it’s core it is simply believing that which you see to be truth.

Yesterday, I sat here and somebody stirred the coals of fear for me. They did not do it intentionally, but my mind turned to wander down a road that meant fear could enter, then pain and finally loss. I wanted to get up and do something, but I could not. A half hour later my faith to not get urgent, to not jump up…was rewarded. But that 30 minutes was a long 30 minutes.

Believe what you know to be truth. What is the truth? What you see or what you do not see? You will be the decision maker on that one. “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” So, it is important. But did God leave us unprepared? NO! He gave us something and someone one we can believe in. We can believe the word of God. We can believe God. Why? Because if God is a liar than all bets are off. We are on a raft headed for a great waterfall. Destruction is nigh.

We have talked about faith a lot over my 25 years in the kingdom. We have made it the holy grail, called it a muscle, talked about exercising it, but at its core we are simply believing something that may be in sharp contrast to what we are seeing or walking through in the moment.

How do I overcome fear? With the knowledge He loves me and He has given me something to fight it with. Love and faith. When fear enters what do I believe? What do I hang my hat on?

Let me tell you that there is a springboard of faith. It can be the word of God or a word God gave you. Something you are so solid and sure on nothing can move you. Not hell or fear, not nothing! A springboard is something that jump starts you towards success. Something you bounce off, giving you altitude to accomplish.

I want to give some of you three springboards today. They are words that the Lord put in my heart this morning. For those that desire to believe I know you will be empowered and see success.

  • The first is a couple. There has been a “pox” on your house about sickness. You have fought with faith and not spoke the words of fear. Today, you see right here that God is wanting you to get respite, to feel the smell of victory in your home.
  • The second is a parent or parents who are concerned over their little girl. Perhaps 2-3 years old there is a concern that she is different. Different in the sense that she has a gift that that is coming out in unusual ways. Not bad ways but good ways. You have wavered on the “normal” title. Be assured this gift is God and life is about to explode in ways you can not understand.
  • A 14 year old young man has been involved with a girl. There is concern. The girl is liked, but the concern is for the boy. Is he ready for relationship? I have to say no. I saw this boy being pulled from his walk towards destination. There is talk of another school.

What do you do with these words? You pray. They can either be accepted or disregarded. The choice is yours. Some of you struggled with that last one. Why the struggle? Why is that? Do not use these words as weapons to hurt or to hinder but as tools to gain altitude with the knowledge that God loves.

Today look for the springboard in your life. There most certainly is one today.
