Changing Your World

In a dream, I found myself on an island helping a friend move off the island. There were all sorts of delays and finally all his belongings were put into a container and readied to leave. And then my job was to get to the airport and get on a plane to return to the US.

The decision was made to wait a few days rather than be pressured in the leaving.

I awoke with a sense of dissatisfaction because I had not left and felt as if something had not been completed.Like so many I have fought my share of battles over the years. Currently the greatest “battle” is the one of simply finding work. In September of 2012 illness (Environmentally caused) forced me to give up the business I had. Add November 2013 and the loss of my wife’s long term job and life changes.

Each day we are both devoted to the process of finding work. With over 50 “job sites” and phones in hand we do our daily search. (Last night I was sending out resumes and doing research to start today off at 11PM.

Part of my personal discipline is to daily write for 1-2 hours, look for employment and stay creative in other areas of my life. Add my times spent just listening and my days like that of so many others is full.

I did sense that some large rapid changes are on the horizon. Rapid. I felt there was a sense of quick, explosive changes. I thought how many people need that? A lot! Large is a funny word. My sense of large can be relative to what I am believing for. As a need might increase so does the sense of what large means.

As I pondered some of this I had a couple of visions.

One of the visions was a tumultuous ocean. Waves were crashing about, white foam being thrown to the air. And then I realized it was all occurring in a round fishbowl.

Again that brings me to the sense of what is large, what is quick. Because as soon as I recognized the reality of it, it stopped. God today is giving you a new perspective.

I thought of all the babies being born this year. Lots. Our church fellowship has a number of new babies on the way. I have two grandchildren on their way in the next 3-4 months. I have a number of friends who have “baby” written on their calendar this year.

Life is changing. Rapid, large changes for them. For the world.

I felt there were there were three things he was saying. That there were three words to look at.  And not of them were really connected. But let me share them. They were media, distraction and covered. All of these were being subjected to large and rapid change. Leaving me to ask why and hearing, “pray”.

  • Media-I thought a lot about this. First thoughts were “what media” but soon I accepted it was speaking of the “media” meaning an all-encompassing term that refers to a collective of communicatory mediums used to store or transmit information or data. It could be internet, TV, radio, print, etc..

Let me be honest, I am not a big fan of a lot of media when it is connected to the news. (And yes, I recognize no matter how hard you try there will be a bias.) But overall we have seen media resort to sensationalism and posturing. The very flavor has made the word “news” for some distasteful.

Be looking for a number of fast changes. I believe they will include: sales, closures, major clientele change and new breed of reasonable and strong positive news outlets.

  • Distraction-The Lord “highlighted” this one, so I know it speaks of personal as well as a corporate thinking. Stay focused on what is being pointed out to you. Your faith to avoid the urgency and anxiety of others and situations will be key here. Distraction divides your attention and prevents concentration.
  • Covered-What a weird word to give. Covered…covered what, I thought. And then I saw a large tent. White and so large it was amazing. I felt the Lord say “I have got this covered.”

Some of you are waiting or are in need of some big words. You need “answers” and you need them now. I feel like God is saying to you on so many levels, I have this.

So what do I think about all of it?

Certainly there is some personal thinking I have to do. Like many I have a situation or two that needs and requires the move of something, somehow. In the past I have allowed the urgency of a situation to direct my path, pull my attention to the side.

There were two examples I was thinking of yesterday. One I was sharing with my wife and the other with a friend.

I was saying to my wife had I not jumped into action when my house was flooded from contractor error a lot of things would be different. But when everything flooded I went into action. Locating shop vacs, pumps and such I went to save things like furnaces and the radio station’s $50,000 transmitter. By jumping into action everyone else was saved but we lost everything as the result of it.

Had I let the contractor’s error ruin everything, the radio station would have sued us and our insurance forcing them to go after the real culprit. But I did not. I let urgency and responsibility jump in and it cost us everything there.

One of the issues from moving water in 5 gallon pails was a shoulder problem.  I developed shoulder issues. I could not move it. I was not able to throw a baseball 20 feet and the pain was huge. I went to a doctor and he recommended surgery after reviewing the Xrays. The surgery would put me out of commission for 12 weeks. No hugging my wife, no holding grandchildren. I opted for King Jesus and a few months later I was healed.

In both cases urgency came but I responded differently. One was a loss and the other a gain.

The enemy of your soul will try and unseat you. He has worked overtime in the last few weeks in my life. I have heard every negative word that would attempt to unseat me come into my life. I get it. If the enemy can cause you to leave the rest, he can pull you aside and begin to work on you. Leaving the place of rest opens the doors to fear, worry and anxiety. It is one thing to say that you ”have not the spirit of fear” and still another to recognize that the reason for that is attributed to remaining in the rest. It is one thing to recite “be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication…” and still another to see that happens in the rest of God.

Today God is asking you to trust Him. To believe and accept that place of rest. To allow Him to move through you as you move. To give His life through you as an expression of His goodness.

Your world changes in Him. No longer a “tempest in a teapot” or a surging ocean in a fishbowl, His heavenly reality is your reality. Your place of being. It is in Him that you find comfort and peace.
