The Gift Of Gifts -Seeing Where He wants You

I am not sure what others pray for, dream about or even think about. I know just praying opens doors for me in people’s lives, shows me things about them that I never thought about and absolutely wow’s me.

Last night I had a number of dreams and I will share part of one that opened my eyes to the goodness of God in a further way in a moment.

First things first! God wants to pour His extravagance out on you today. Open your hands! Open your mouths! He has good things for you. In the dream where I was He let us give a million pounds of food to one person! God is everywhere, but He has seasons of moving us! Watch. It is confirmed by others what He is doing.

THINK ABOUT THAT! A MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD! TO ONE PERSON!God gives you gifts! He gives you it all!

I thought about gifts this morning. As a child when you receive gifts you perhaps did or saw this. All the gifts get opened quickly. The paper is everywhere. But moments later, it is one or two gifts that get used.

Sidenote-Unfortunately in this gift giving stage, we have so come to want sound bites of life, that we give gift cards to people. We give them what they want. God gave me what I would not have chosen.  Everything pointed to it, but I fought or avoided it on some level. Not exciting enough. Where is the provision? But it is what HE GAVE ME! Part of our problem with microwave thinking and sound  bite mentality is that we do not take the time to see what is important to the person. And those of you who just want money or a gift card often exacerbate it. If God hardwired us for community then our understanding of one another ought to increase and not decrease. The things that have the most value in my life often are the things given to me by those closest to me. My family, my friends. He is thinking of me through him.

God gives you what you need. He is your gift giver. He is your supply. He knows you better than you know you.

And that brings me to the following thoughts. God loves you. He cares about you. He created you and He has gifted you. I have learned the difficult way that God will do everything to get you where He wants you, doing what He has called you to do. Jonah found out as much!

Our dilemma is so many are so good at so much, that we often are good but not great. I am guilty of that. I understand we must supply, we must have provision. I understand wants. But what if you were so good at something but were being called to something else? I have a young friend who is gifted and great at music but that is not where she is headed. I have another friend who is really amazing at one thing but keeps chasing another. Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame had the potential to be a great football star. (Check ESPN!) But he loved duck hunting more. He summed it up like this: Playing football was a game. Hunting was my lifestyle.

God wants you to have a lifestyle. He has the ability to shape you, mold you and transform you if you will let Him. God has given you a gift and he does not want you to hide it or bury it. I told you my greatest gifts come from my family and friends, because they know me. My greatest gifts come from my Father!

There is a huge difference between being good and being great. A big difference between a game and a lifestyle.

The dream-In the dream my friend and I were having conversations about various people. What do they like? Which would be better? What do you think? (I do not know about you but I love gift giving. I love the prep, the “hunt”, the wrapping and the cards. I love the creativity and the personal thinking it requires. I think God is like that.) We had discussions about what kind of car to get a friend. (A Hudson Hornet or a 1950’s Pontiac.) Another friend was bought a giant playhouse. Another received a million pounds of food. The auditorium was filled with gifts and the warehouses had more. The gifts were personal. We devoted much time to the process. I don’t know where the money came from. People were just awestruck. They had seen nothing like this. Witnessed it never! I just sat in the front row and laughed as the people came up and the gifts were put in their hands, driven up to their side and brought out on trailers.

I know this dream was very specific to our church fellowship. By my friend who worked with me. By those who received. BUT…the supply of gifts never ran out. The people never stopped coming. If I was reading this I would “GET IN ON IT!”

A lot of people will not read my articles because they are ‘too long.” I get it. I am not a sound bite guy. Never will be. While others are in and out of what they have to say, I am just taxiing up the runway.

See this dream will “equip” you. Not in the sense of Ephesians 4:11-12 but in opening your eyes to the reality of how big God is and how much He wants to bless you. At the same time He has more for you where He wants you than He does where you want you.
