What Makes Us Different?

leejohndrowteamToday I get to be with friends and family. I have had a powerful weekend with many.

Having our friend Randall share on the topics of authenticity, legacy and generations definitely touched my heart strings. And gave me a greater appreciation than I had for him only moments before.

Often people ask what makes what we do differ. I think one of the greatest things that happens with us, we have been in what “doesn’t work” enough to understand and value what does.

This morning I get to gather with the greatest people in the world. What makes our community different than a lot of places is our culture that is constantly moving, shaping and morphing.

When I think of our community, I see the following things appear….

  • We welcome new people. To have what people want and to carry the heart of the Father and to welcome all of them. People come to be involved. We must welcome them.
  • We collaborate with one another and reach outside our circle to meld with others. We do not need more division. True unity embraces diversity.
  • We empower folks who are on the same mission as us. We may not do it their way and us theirs, but we recognize the value and strengths. We are not looking for cookie cutter Christianity.
  • We are not just a community of inclusivity but a community of involving people in our lives and our hearts. Our desire is to engage them.

Yesterday, one of my friends, David, said “if we let them have the experience it is with them forever.”

Why do we do what we do? Because we love God and His people. What changes, shapes and forms is an outpouring of love and care as He would.

Now off to be in communion with some of the greatest people in the world.
