I have always been a dreamer, often finding it difficult to separate the dream from the reality. Let me be real when I say, that dreams may well be a reality in another dimension, that ignite in our minds of this one.
If that causes you to check out so be it. But as you read thrugh the dreams of the Old Testament, where God came upon someone rather than being on the inside, if he were to reach you in a dream, it was from His realm and not yours. I get that He can reach you wherever He wants, but keep in mind you and I deal from a New Covenant reality. We do not understand what it was like then. We can “imagine” but that’s the end of the line for us.
In the last few weeks I have had a number of dreams that have been unusual, even by my standards. Some of this I am still processing, so if details seem or appear sparse, it is because I am working through my process as well.
Dream 1 took place in Russia. I was in a palace of sorts and everyone was regal in their attire and appearance. At some point, things began to go “bad”. I was whisked away from the main room and brought into the presence of a man, who was clearly Russian and obviously in charge. He dismissed everyone from the room and then spoke to me
“Your life is in danger. My name is Aleksei (Subsequently, I found his name to mean “Defender”.) and my mission is to get you out of here safely. I am a Christian.”
Boom! I was ushered out through secret passageways and tunnels, finding myself on the edge of a river, who’s breadth I could not determine.
Dream 2
A couple of nights later, I was in a cafe in Mashdad, Iran. (Mashdad means martyrdom.) I sat there with a young couple. The spirit of God was bringing a sense of peace in the midst of an “un–tranquil” situation. The blood was crying out. This couple was asking for passage to safety. An angel approached us. (I don’t know how I knew it was.) The three of us began to follow. Through armed guards and soldiers, we walked to a place of safety. We were housed their for a few days and then a vehicle came to get us.
Dream 3
I was in the home of my youth. I was going up a hill called Parsonage Road. As I climbed the hill, others began to follow. We were on a trek. A journey. The town was Northford. The further I walked, the more began to follow. As we crossed the fields, I felt this presence of evil. We arrived at a “school building of sorts. As I wandered about, some of the people were there wrongfully. Every now and then, it was if their “mask” would drop and I would see the real them. I took a bunch of them out to the swings, while it was raining. As the rain came down the masked ones had their masks melt away. (The rain falls on the just and the unjust.) They began to become irritated and angry. Soon, they realized they were not welcome and left.
Dream 4
A few nights ago, I was in a dream. I found myself in the middle of a situation in a work place that was a little crazy and a bit uncomfortable. There was a lot going on and the person I was talking to kept looking over as uniformed men came into the office. He said, “remember this number and gave me a number”. I repeated it in the dream as a uniformed military officer came and escorted him out of the room. were speaking German, though I heard some Russian. Then I awoke with the number in my head. I opened my phone. The number showed as a previously dialed number with no name. Wow! Theat morning I looked the number up in Google. I expected to get one of those pages like “spamcaller” or “easylookup”. Uhhh…no. The page that was on top was a bizarre set of “notes”. The first one began, “what were you doing with the Nazi’s?”
What is my take away from all this, was this. The supernatural, if I had any doubt is real. That God is in the midst of much of what we go through. That, yes, God does speak through dreams.
This series of dreams could mean that things are always going to be wild, but the protective covenant of God exists, not with us, but through the covenant that God made with Jesus, catching us square in the middle of it all. That He will never leave us nor forsake us.
I am sure that as the days go on, God will reveal more to me about these dreams, but for me, they are a great source of encouragement.
