When the world speeds up and you want to get off, what do you do? Do you hunker down? Hide? Run away? With every bit of gained “maturity” we find that the “geographical cure” only reveals us at the end of the journey. (Didn’t that happen to Jonah? Nothing new under the sun…)The last few days I have received notes from friends who are encountering various challenges and needing the encouragement, prayer and comfort of a friends. I get it. And with every step of growing maturity you realize what your “options” probably are not. I find in my own life that every time something comes up that I would like to “bail” on something else has already been “planned” not leaving me the luxury of “getting out of it”.
So where do we go? What do we do? I would suggest to you that growing anxious or worried is not where you want to be. Why are these things under attack. Sometimes we made a bad choice, or even a good choice and held on too long. It may in fact be a “weakness” in your thinking that needs to be overcome.
On so many levels our health has been paid for and the choice is “who do we believe?” Do we believe God and the fact that His stripes paid for it all? Or the devil who works overtime trying to convince us of failure?
What do we believe about wealth? People challenge the “prosperity” thinking but is it not better than poverty thinking? Poverty is always causing you to be on guard, tempting you with manipulation and greed. Of course you can live without money, but I am talking about the spirit itself that wants to drain and to dry. I am not talking about “poor”. A lot of what wealth results from is “good” choices. That is something to think about.
And what about happiness? A lot of what we call happiness results from perspective. How do we view something? What do we think about and meditate on? Do we let one “bad” thing ruin our day, our week?
God is looking to you on so many levels. Smokey the Bear used to say “only you can prevent forest fires”. I would say to you only you can change how you believe. What you believe is important. How you believe may be even greater so.
I over turn every rock of my existence it seems to search out not just what I believe but how I believe it and how it affects me. Honestly what I believed a few years ago has changed. My own rigidity about various things kept me from accurately understanding what was truly be revealed.
As I said earlier, when others hunker down it may be in fact the time to lift your head and boldly travel to where others are not to do what they will not.
May the spirit of the Living God arise in you!
