Too often in my conversations with people I find people tempted to bypass something for the sake of ignorance or the lack of attention. We have developed an “its all good” mentality when the very reason they are “here” is because they chose to avoid or disdain a “then” opportunity.
Why is that important? It is important because many of the reasons we are “here” is because we bypassed opportunities or signposts that dictated change.
Have you noticed the amount of “ do you remember when” posts that appear on Facebook or a blog? Or the “do you remember this”? And then they award you a score which shows one of two things in most cases. You are older than your peers or you paid attention! A 10 year old is hardly going to recognize a record player unless they are told or shown. But the one who knows has either “been there” or dated themselves.
Here is a recent one. 25 years ago the Berlin Wall fell. Do you remember that? Did you study it or were you there? Either counts for points! How important was that time in history? I had just become a believer a few months before. After its fall the question became who would get there there first. The Mormons or Hari Krishna? Believers or cults?
We are on the cusp of another great one. I see it coming. Is it important? I think so. I remember years ago when the lower caste of India was allowed a choice for religion. Who would they choose?
Something is getting ready to break as big as either the fall of the wall or the choice of religion. Is it North Korea? A Russia? I ask these questions seriously because I want to know if we “remember” when? Or have we just noticed a mistake or lack of timing and waltzed by it?
There are signposts of a great harvest. A true victory rests at hand. Last night I lay there thinking abut being in a vessel upon the waters of God and realizing the “His rest is more powerful than my best”. But God reminded me that in that there was a labor, an activity. I can be on a river and miss things I want to participate in. Choose to do. Engage in.
If you tend to be a “let’s see what happens” person as opposed to a “let’s make it happen” person that is okay. But if you want to change the world, your choices today are important to your tomorrows. Last night a great “change the world” leader was killed in a plane crash. Terrible! Sad. And yet the meeting he would have been at chose to go on, as that would have been his wish. His death gained additional meeting in changing the world.
Today-remember when and choose accordingly. Because your today will become your tomorrow’s history. Tomorrow you will be questioned. Do you remember when?
