The Overlook In Your Life

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

While heading for the caffeine IV this morning I felt the nudge of the Lord. A simple word, overlook, opened up. It appeared. I began to think about it.

On a personal level, I felt the Lord saying there is an “overlook” or overlooked concept, application or method or action I had not implemented. I sat there for a moment and was reminded of my grandson’s prayer last night as he does with me when he is before bed. He often prays for his father, his mom to get work, all the people to be healed and such. Last night there was twist. He prayed that I would raise my mother and father from the dead. (Not really a stretch when you think Jesus’s death released people buried. Matthew 27:51-53) Wow! Teach them to believe for the impossible and…Be careful not to overlook what God is doing through His people.

So perhaps my overlook is to occasionally do what I have always kind of “hated” and that is to dumb down a scripture to make it fit my paradigm, my situation or circumstance. Is that not how we avoided “God heals all”? Only the other day I read a testimony of a person raised from the dead. I get excited.

So what if Jacob, my grandson sees something a little differently than I do? It is certainly not going to be said by me or most of my friends that he is in error on this or too young. When he prays for “all the people to be saved, to get new hearts, to be healed” and “ALL” is the defining word, it would be easy to get caught up in “yes, that’s just a kid. One day he will ‘learn’.” Folks, that is what they used to say to me as an early believer. “One day he will understand and not be so ‘impractical’.” It is okay to go against the flow!

I say let them prophesy the ever increasing government of God, exercised by God through His people in the authority He has invested in them.

We must be very careful NOT to overlook the children and the idea of seeing the “impossible” become possible. “The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see.” That is me. I want a generation of those who are not intimidated or doubtful of anything. “Oh, Lee, that is not very practical and could lead to disappointment.”  Yep, it could, except for the fact God does not disappoint and I do not think He is overwhelmed by “impossible” requests. After all, the God who is able came to live in you and I.

I felt the Lord say be careful you do not overlook the possibility.

A moment later and I found myself on a high mountain looking down into a valley of people. From an overlook. (I immediately thought of what it must have been like for Moses, while Aaron and Hur were above the battle being fought. Exodus 17:10)

And this I felt was being said to a number of people. You have understood that you are seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6) and you really want to “believe” it but things have “worked” against you. Today a visitation or encounter is on its way. Something to give you hope anew, promise understood. Something many might call “token” but really it is something you can “believe” in. For some it might be a feather or a scripture, but something is going to turn you around from discouraged to encouraged. It may be the words of a stranger or a voice on the radio or a license plate with your answer, but you will know. You need to “prepare your heart” for the answer but you will not seek after the answer for it will appear.

No more will the people of God overlook the possibilities but they shall come to understand the goodness of the Lord by the overlook they have been given.

And there is one more part to this. You have not been “overlooked” by God. I had a dream last night and I was preaching. While I was preaching God had me call people out and share something about them. This was making for a “long” meeting. I was concerned but as each person heard a word about themselves, tears and smiling broke out. But each time I would return to preach, I would get this pull and ask yet another to stand and receive. On and on. Then I realized more and more people were coming through the doors of our fellowship. I never saw the end of the words.

God has not overlooked you. He knows right where you are. He has not left the room and gone on to do something else. You can simply sit in His company. You have NOT been overlooked. If you have been “over” anything it is overshadowed by the grace of God and changed by Him. He moved over your darkness and spoke light in to your life.
