Marketing Life To The Majority

Green Kia Soul

Being a prophet is something like putting out a new car color.

Recently, in the community I live in I see a lot of weird green cars by a Korean manufacturer Kia. Part of me jokes and says, “can you imagine being a marketing guy for a car company and saying let’s pick a really ugly color and see how long before it hits.”

I love marketing, so I would see it as a challenge.

On a lot of levels I have come to see my function as a prophetic voice like that. Over the years I would say something, and I would wait to see how long it took to return. I would “make something up” and watch and see. Over time I can think of three that gained over the years. They would have urban legend status about now.

We see something or we perceive something and we begin to say it. We may only get a shadow of it or a picture of it and we begin to dialog it. It is one of the reasons it reminds me of marketing on some level. Advertising and marketing are a lot like a guy wanting to be involved with a woman. He sees something he wants and he decides his approach. Selling a car color is a lot like that. You have to get the public to see their “need.”

For the guy, there are four ways to get your name out there.

  1. Marketing-“I am a great guy.”
  2. Public Relations-Another woman telling the potential date “he is a great guy.”
  3. Advertising-“I am a great guy – I am a great guy – I am a great guy”
  4. Branding-Potential date speaking to man “I understand you are a great guy.”

At the end of it all the hope is that he will have a date with the lovely young lady. You can see branding is getting your message to the place where people are telling you your message.

I think the green is not so hot a color for the Kia Soul. Or any car. I am not dissing the car, but the color. But here is what happens, the executives say green is this year’s color. So, then they have to sell it to the people who sell it. Here is what I saw. Two or three appeared on the local lot. No one really “orders” cars anymore (Remember those days? Didn’t think so!) so people come in and take what is there. A few more come in. People in the area start to see these green cars. “Wow! Look at all those green Kias” begins to buzz in the atmosphere. Others see them. And notice more. I envision about now people are coming in to buy green Kias because they saw one or knew “someone who knew someone who knew someone.” No one will probably even remember someone had some left over green paint they needed to get on a few cars. Or the sleepless nights of some executive who had to figure out how to sell green cars.

Right now there are some things prophetically going on in the region that to me, feel like I am selling a green colored car. I recognized the “toll” emotionally it had started to take. I saw the “tiredness” in my eyes last night. Scripture tells me this:  Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. There are many things we can “throw” but His word through us is bread.

The region is on the verge of change. Many have fought for it. Many have fought it. I see that we are about to grow. There is a new life through love that will live.

Green Kia Soul

  • Green-I feel the Lord putting these scriptures out there for this season, as the green.
9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;11not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;12rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,13contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.
  • Kia-did you know that the word Kia has a Hebrew background?
    Chaya means Life.
  • Soul-Genesis 2:7 says this And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
