Repair At Ground Level

roadrunnerI had a dream where I had just taken on a new job and people decided it was their time to prank me. To make fun of me by filing false contracts (No one is buying 2,388 cars today, I am pretty sure of it…)Throughout the dream I had to reach out and uncover the “fraud” of clients and the pranks of fun loving folks. Much of “my time” was spent determining what was truth and what was not. My skills were high, but a few still tried to get things by me.

The dream was over when I began to explain to a group of these folks they were waiting their time and wasting time. We are called to be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove.

Last night I uncovered a cartoon of Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner. Personally I loved the show. I get it has violence but not nearly as much as the Bible so it is still a go… But as I read the cartoon, I had a flash about foundational lies. Beliefs that we have gathered. Perhaps they came from mom and dad. Or a well meaning friend. How many are running around with thinking from the school yard of their youth.

Reading the Bible will uncover and establish foundations of truth.

Here are a few for instances in the Bible. Now keep in mind, that Bible understanding comes from the whole counsel of the word. Meaning from Genesis to maps! Laws of first mention and study techniques of that nature. So what does the Bible reveal about hell, homosexuality or witchcraft?

One of the things I have learned is I value love over being right or great theology. Jesus is perfect theology and for you to understand Him you need to understand the book. How many thought for instance that the gospels of the New Testament, while in the book are not entirely speaking from a new covenant perspective? One must remember that Jesus had to be under the law to do what He did at the cross.

Me, I am finding more and more there is mystery.

Lies of foundational thinking can cause you to build a house of improper theology and thinking. Do you really believe stepping on a crack can break your mother’s back? How much of your theology shifts or asked questions when I mentioned that about New Testament versus new covenant? It will change your approach.

We are in a day of people desirous of revelation, wisdom and understanding. To the point of passing over the scriptures of love and grace. The smaller revelations we uncover can never stand against the over arching theme of God which is love. It is time to bring reparation to our house of understanding and strengthen that which is strong, repair that which is weak and remove that which is wrong.

One of the greatest challenges of the believer is to see something exposed and be willing to admit the wrongness of their belief. How many things have I unlearned over the years? Even at the expose of relationships where people felt “if that is what you believe I can not be part of you”. What you believe, how you walk and all other things are quite possibly subject to change. God gives grace to the humble.

Be aware and be prepared.

And in the words of the newly denounced speed king, “BEEP-BEEP”.
