A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling.
This morning I thought about how I sense God’s presence. And what I hear others to process through to determine “His presence.”. So much of what we try to accomplish is without our “God filter” or the understanding that comes from a renewed mind.
Years ago as I “pastored” a church fellowship, I heard people say when confronted with a task or situation, “I am waiting until I feel lead.” So true to my “pastoral nature” I brought a large chunk of lead from a rock and mineral store and when they would say something like that I would push it towards them, suggest “they feel lead” and get on with their life. But when people operate by their 5 natural senses, this process is more than just funny, it is actually prophetic in nature. Satisfy the sensory need and the body can follow. For many a year I have taught that “peace was our referee” meaning that there is a peace that God has provided for through The Holy Spirit. I predicate that thought and statement on multiple scriptures throughout the Old and New Testaments.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]; because he trusteth in thee.
Philippians 4:7And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
That thought has not changed, but it is clear to me that many have forgotten that we must couple that peace in my statement, with the attributes of God which would include grace (1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God —and righteousness and sanctification and redemption–) and wisdom. Somehow we want to separate the attributes or the parts of God into compartments. (We did it with the “names of Jehovah.”) All of God is seen in the nature of who he is, love. (1 John 4:8 b) Continue reading Peace Is Our Referee Wisdom Calls The Plays→
Elijah was prophet of the Old Testament. And even by my standards he was a weird guy. (As an old comic used to say “if you think I am weird just what do you think I think is weird?”) There are so many facets of his life to key on, but I think today I was drawn to him by the feeling of isolation or being boxed in. Let me just say today is really more personal than it is helpful or educational. It also contains updates on what is coming up.
I awoke somewhere around 4AM finding myself praying out loud. No dream led up to it and I really did not have anything in my mind at the time. Life is like that. We find ourselves in situations that are funny, sad, hard or easy all the time. Continue reading Personal Update August 9th 2013→
Too often we walk into a circumstance or situation and we can tell that something is off. It is at that point we get to make the determination will we accept it or reject it. My experience is that many people just get comfortable with the feeling that has been revealed to them even when it is negative. This is fine if the atmosphere you are walking in is a good one. The difficulty is when we encounter an atmosphere that is off or even demonic in nature and we accept it.
When it comes to changing atmosphere, it ultimately comes down to you and your belief of who God is within your life. If you believe you are always under circumstances and not above circumstances you will operate from that mentality. (Ephesians 1:20-23) My hope here is to encourage you to change the atmosphere. This morning as I thought about our local church fellowship I reflected on many of the church fellowships that I have attended over the years. The majority of the church fellowships that I have been involved in including one that I pastored for 15 years often looked at a need and went to bring reparation to the need. Too often that method has the potential to burn people out. Continue reading Playing Games – Too Often What We See Is Like Playing A Game→
When asked about prophecy, I have come to see the following conclusion. All the knowledge in the world is useless without application. Paint in a bucket has potential, but until applied…paint in the bucket with potential. Flour in a bag has potential to make a meal. But until used it is flour. And if someone requested blue walls and the can was never opened, but you put down carpet, installed counters, etc., the room would look better but you never accomplished what you were asked and called to do.
I know a lot of people who know a lot of things but have never applied it. How many have taken a class in something but never used it. Certificates on the wall do not change the world. The application of the knowledge received is what changes.
Prophecy is like that. It is not what you know but what you say.
I often find myself coming up against myself. What does that mean? It is those times where I cannot seem to gain headway. The difficulty is I am often sure it is the Lord holding me back. Recently I have felt that way. I have watched all my supports evaporate. The last few weeks has had me wondering. Even when I remove the feelings of the intensity, I see that there is something underlying that I have not plumbed. I do not suggest that the Lord ruined home or finance, but for whatever the reason His intervention was not there. (I do not blame Him, nor am I even frustrated as to “why.”) And so I was “up against the wall” in my thinking.
I have noticed that many are caught up in the “stuff.” What is the stuff? The stuff is that which affects you and your understanding of biblical principles, seasons of life and the need for legacy.
