I’m The Captain Of The Ship
This morning I was talking to someone afflicted by pain. Many are “going through something.” I get it. I also know that the answer to your affliction well resides in you. James even says “are you afflicted? Pray.” (James 5:13) It also instructs one who is sick to go the elders of the church. This is not about what heals or does not heal. All healing comes from God. We are to allow or to express His healing characteristic towards ourselves and others.
The Bible tells you, that you are the head and not the tail. Meaning you are in charge of what goes on. You are the captain of your ship. As I got off the phone I thought of a Grand Funk Railroad song, “”I’m Your Captain,” the story of one who is being mutinied against. The song is applicable here. Here are some of the lyrics.
I can feel the hand, of a stranger,
And it’s tightening, around my throat.
Heaven help me, Heaven help me,
Take this stranger from my boat.I’m your captain, I’m your captain,
Though I’m feeling mighty sick.
Everybody, listen to me,
And return me, my ship.
It is time to see our destiny is in our settled faith, speaking out over what we know to be truth. Do you believe God provided for you, health and wholeness? Exercise your authority and speak it over your life. Over the lives of others. You are not taking authority. You have been given authority.
Stop the “masked marauders” (Loony Toons-remember?) from committing mutiny and take back the ship!
It is time to be captain of your destiny.
