Results More Than Reasons

kids drawingAs the young child stretched forth his hand the baby came to life. No longer blue in color, but quickly recovering and having color restored the child began to coo softly. Life had returned. What was it that brought such instantaneous change to the dead baby? Was it faith? Was it it Jesus? The mystery of the ages?

I think too often we want to wrap our brain around something, when it is the simple truth of the gospel that we are to follow. My friend Randall Worley had this to say, “If you have more answers than you have questions you are balancing dangerously on the precipice of idolatry”. Too often we feel me must have all the answers. I clearly went through a stage where I felt I must have all the answers. (I still struggle not having them from time to time.) Maybe it began in school or as a young parent, but it was certainly strengthened as a believer in my early days. No, I am okay when I do not have the answer. I can embrace the mystery of God. The incomplete understandings I may face. I understand “wanting” to find out or discover, but I am at peace in the midst of “not yet there”.

This morning I read about one of my favorite topics. Muscle cars! I was reading about the new 702 HP, production Dodge Challenger. Perhaps the most interesting thing I read was how it comes with two sets of keys. One set “restricts” it to 500HP. “Of course Johnny. You can take my new car. Just bring it home safe, son.” My parents had a mechanic restrict(Can you spell governor?)the power of my first hot car. Okay…and the point is? I trust you a lot, just not enough???

Interestingly enough, God trusted us with all the power of heaven. He gave us the keys to the kingdom. Healing, wholeness, deliverance, resurrection power.

As a child, when I was denied things like keys to hot cars or the fullness of power, I began to look for alternatives instead of just providing a strong landing place for the release of trust in my life. But here comes God and He trusts you. You may not trust Him, but folks He trusts you with His power and His name.

Why was the child able to heal the baby? Because God trusted him with His power and His name.

I think it is important to know God and to know His truths. But I am way more on the team of making it happen rather than trying to figure out how it happens. We are in the midst of something I personally describe as “indescribable”. (Remember when everyone was “jumping for joy” for the new Almond Joy? INDESCRIBABLY DELICIOUS!) For years I have heard about the revival that is “unprecedented”. What does that mean? Is it the length, the amount of people, the power? I don’t care! I do not have to “Greek” it out or get caught up in what it means, let’s just do it! I am sure that it must come from God moving through His people, so look for people who are moving! Look for people who are changing things! Workplaces, playgrounds and schools may well be the place. But at the end of the day, I am like, “let’s just get this done!”

The child I saw healing was just one of many in the vision. There were actually groups of them who had walked into a camp where families were sick and dirty. Hurting and hot. Life was not pleasant here. Where did the healing children come from? I am not sure. They just seemed to appear in the midst of the pain. And they did not bat an eye at what they faced. They just began to do the “stuff”.

Come to me as little children. What if the revival is amongst those with childlike faith. Inclusive of children, but not limited by age? What if all our monies spent on TV and media to get the word out were replaced by doers of the word? (I am okay with those mediums, but I think you know what I mean.)

Today I encourage you to “look” for the children. To be less concerned with answers and consumed with the ANSWER for Jesus is perfect theology. In Him we find life and liberty. Perhaps the “unprecedented” part is to simply be more satisfied with the results and less about the reasons.
