The Pull Of The Pendulum

preachingatvillageThe swing of the pendulum. The counting of time. The force. The pull.

Yesterday as I sat in a meeting I saw a clock that was wrong. It ran slowly, out of synch. (Because it is a friend’s, I want to ask him “who does that? How do you live with that?”) My wife would tell you I am intuitive about time, whether it is getting up, how long we have been somewhere, etc.. (Ironically for me, laughter captured me and I was teleported to another dimension. I lost “time”!)

So imagine being in a dream where you could add an element that locked out new knowledge? Forbid the gathering of additional understanding? In computers it was by design. You could turn your computer into a museum piece! Simply hook this canister up and count. Whatever information you had was forever preserved and nothing could be added. But then I saw someone figured out how to use it on humans. They could lock out all future gain in a manner to preserve their past and insure their future. Not very glorious, but secure they felt.

I awoke and saw immediately that this was an attack of the enemy. Too many people have been shut out of their future because of pain, hurt, doubt and fear. And others did not even realize that. They shut down their process of learning. Locked into old thought process(es)and living and remained.

But as I came down the stairs this morning I saw the pendulum swing. A new hunger for the word, for life and for understanding was arising.

I wrote this last night…

I just got off the phone with my brother who is battling cancer. I also just had a great day with leaders.

Waves of emotion have been folding over me all day on every level. I joked yesterday about the snow. That it would fill every empty spot.

So shall His glory overtake. Overcome. Override.

Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

Isaiah 60:2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

New England-you have held on to injustice too long. You have captured offense and made it your own. But many are those who have cried out in mercy and grace. Today I say the overturning of injustice is upon us. I saw petitions of justice being signed. Fulfilled in Him and for His glory.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. Isaiah 60:1

A great word for a great place. New England. But in that time I saw the pendulum swing.

I grew up in a era where lots of clocks had pendulums. Tick tock, tick tock. You could hear the sound of the gears, the tension of springs and the clicking of the clock. But the greatest pendulum I ever saw was more of a plumb line. It weighed 180 pounds, suspended on 85 feet of wire. (The Focault Pendulum at the Franklin Museum.) It tracks despite the moving or rotation of the earth. It knocks over pins that are assembled on the floor. Mesmerizing.

Despite the “pull” of the world it tracks. So does the pendulum shift we are encountering. It cuts against technology, theology, understanding and education. Perhaps we have sat on that moment where direction ends and a new one begins on a pendulum. The cusp of change where momentum ceases and direction changes. We are there. The travel has been reversed. The momentous pull has begun. One motion ended and another begun. In science it is the pull of gravity. In the kingdom the pull is similar. The wing of the pendulum is subject to a force of restoration that pulls it towards a center.

In the coming days, God’s glory will appear and the knowledge of this shall be apparent Become visible.

We are in amazing, historic, life changing times. Recently there have been some vacuums, but those voids were being heard from and presence and power are filling, overtaking and overcoming.

It is not for who the bell tolls, but for who the pendulum pulls.
