The End Of Legalism Is Found In Christ

dreamI had three short dreams last night. They all were along the same lines. The law.

In one of them I found myself in an office situation. The people I worked with were continually upset. Each time they would come through a particular door where the office files were they would end up in a conversation that would not only disconnect them from the work they were in process of doing, but agitation would rise up.One day, a particular friend of mine, a very good worker, began to move his desk. He moved it from one of the busiest areas of the office to a place in the corner near a window.  I asked him about it. I said “you are taking yourself out of the traffic flow of ‘prestige’ and moving.” He told me he could no longer deal with a particular person, a woman who had been there for many a year. “She is driving me crazy. I feel like I am not working fast enough or hard enough every time I talk to her. (Ironically he was the most productive person in this area!) A simple conversation with her leaves me agitated and disconnected. I question everything that I do or say after her.”

I awoke from this dream and thought immediately, that she was trying to get him under her spell of legalism and lawful structure. I was dismayed because this young man in real life is a great guy. I have known him for nearly 20 years. I never “saw” it until the dream about “him” but mostly about situations.

I am super blessed person. I seem to have “fallen” into grace and am excited about what is being brought forth in the areas of understanding Him and the person of Grace as He is. It is tremendous. And I guess I have become a little protective of it. I cannot imagine another way.

The other 2 dreams each indicated a structure of wrongful authority and legal structures. In one a sheriff ran rough shod over people who did nothing but live life. In the other a family unit focused so much on the “getting there” that they missed the lives of children and grandchildren. The family structure looked great until one day a wind came and toppled the house. The neighbors poured out into their lives while they sat there in shock. They had lost it all and gained everything! The same people whom they said they would never “be like” because they had no focus!

When your eyes are colored with love you can give it all to those who have hurt you, beat you and mocked you. We are wearing “rose colored” glasses colored by the love of the “Rose of Sharon”.

In the office dream I saw the following.

  • Grace brings you into the light.
  • You no longer care about position or placement.
  • You see a life free of anxiety and worry.
  • Production does not produce rest, but rest is a place of birthing.
  • One person can bring the law and instigate legalism.
  • It is up to you to make a choice.
  • A life of grace opens the opportunity to grow.
  • One must close the doors of legalism.

The second dream carried some of the above but mostly it showed me, people in the law will mock your place and passion and be forced to get in your life. How you deal with this is indicative of the allowance of grace to flow in your life.

The third dream is one I see many struggle with. We all have an “idea” of life and how it is to flow. We have the ability to carry honor or walk in dishonor. It is often a move of the spirit that destroys legalism in a life with a response from those whom you least expect to step to your side.

Our approach to Him is important because man can and does make “rules” about everything unless they are aware.

I have often thought one of the greatest indicators of grace is the ability to receive. Yes, you read that right. It is one thing to have your hand out or to have a need. (If you are only moved by crisis then that too is problematic, because you only feel “gracious” in need. But grace is found in abundance even in times of goodness. Thought granted the greater the sin the greater the grace. But that is another topic.) And it is grace that takes the downtrodden and moves them into place. But I see many who when given a gift or a hand is extended get flustered. I can label it “pride” but it is rooted in legalistic understanding. Who am I to deny you a blessing?

One of the most telling responses is to a situation is when one says it is “good” or it is “bad” because the simple element of that understanding often cries of lawful understanding. Was it not the tree of “good and evil” that was the problem? Is it not told in Revelation there is only one tree? The tree of Life? Perhaps it was in fact the non-productive “fig” tree that was the tree of “good and evil”. Was it not God’s heart that Adam and Eve would not “know” what is good or evil? Was that not the very problem?

The desire may be to immediately change your speech or “work” on your actions, but more importantly it is to allow grace to permeate your being. Let Him appear! We are in the middle of an outpouring of the understanding of grace. It is not a rule or move, but in fact it is the Person of Jesus Christ.

Today come to know Him and the outpouring of Grace will begin to appear.
