I am not sure why people always seem to go “towards the lowest common denominator” when it comes to believing in someone. The Bible tells us to “believe the best”. Perhaps we need to put a delay in our thinking to process to avoid the knee jerk response that creates and causes us trouble. Continue reading Love Never Gives Up

The Power Of His Love
Yesterday it was a gathering of my family. My five children and the grandchildren. It was the culmination of a great weekend. Family.
Folks often try to put labels on family. What it means? Where it goes? What it stands for? I think we can initially define it as a group of people connected by common bloodlines. Or relatives. Those in relationship. But as is the case in my family, a blended family is not unusual. Where children might have non-biological parents. (Or conversely, parents who have children “they were not directly involved with” biologically”.) Continue reading The Power Of His Love
In The Midst Of Change There Is Jesus
How we think. What we think. What we do. What we choose to not do. People come and people go.
But what does not change is God and heaven’s promise and promises. God is not fickle. Continue reading In The Midst Of Change There Is Jesus
The Struggle For Faith
Am I the only one who comes from a background where there are certain scriptures I skip over? Bypass because they “irritate” me. And not for the reasons you are thinking. I am not looking for something to gloss over a portion of my life to do something “wrong”. I am talking about the ones that make me feel less than a man. Imply weakness or inadequacy. Continue reading The Struggle For Faith
Definitely Not My Time!
The following testimony is from my friend, Paul Robbins. It is a strong story about him as a believer and his faith in God. A moving, powerful testimony of the goodness of God.
March 17th about 11am I decide to hike out into the woods to a spot where I saw a moose the previous week. I dressed fairly lightly thinking I would build up a sweat. The hike is about a quarter mile flat then heads uphill. I took my cell phone knowing I don’t get very good service but more for the picture taking and my wife Jeanne has asked me to take it. Continue reading Definitely Not My Time!
All Change Is Preceded By…
There is a quote that says “all change is preceded by chaos.” Even if that is true, it is the man or woman who can take chaos and bring forth meaning and change of the God kind I am seeking.
God brought order out of darkness. Continue reading All Change Is Preceded By…
In The Event Of An Emergency
Last night as phone calls and such came in following my short hospital stay, I sat there and thought about all the things you think of in crisis. The range was from family and friends to mortality and change. Perhaps the “life flashing before your face” thinking. Continue reading In The Event Of An Emergency
Life Changes And I Go Where They Go
Yesterday I wrote about plumbing the depth of my heart for love. To exaggerate his goodness. A few hours later I was sitting in a hospital.
It had started with not feeling well the night before, but after being at work a few hours, I realized I was not “connecting the dots”. Unable to think things through. So, I mentioned this to my boss. I called the hospital and was sent to the nurse’s station. I was not there but a moment or two and they escorted me to the Emergency Room. What I thought was going to be routine turned into an all day experience with me being admitted. Continue reading Life Changes And I Go Where They Go
What’s Love Got To Do With It? Everything!
This morning I awoke thinking of many things. Not to meditate on negatives or “what ifs” but to plumb the depth of my heart for love. Are people getting it? Is it there? Kind of a “how am I doing” exercise.
I lost an old friend yesterday. I received the call late last night from a friend who thought I would want to know. That was one of my thoughts this morning. Thoughts about my children and grandchildren. Thoughts about work. Continue reading What’s Love Got To Do With It? Everything!
If You’re Going To…
As I went to write on something else, the words “are you going to San Francisco” rang in my head. And then I heard the lyrics, “If you’re going to San Francisco, Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair, If you’re going to San Francisco, You’re gonna meet some gentle people there.” The Mamas and The Papas sang that song in May of 1967.
