A
s the world of Facebook, Reddit and news blew up over the VMA’s and Miley Cyrus, my heart was crushed. As a dad, I can only imagine the parent’s internal responses to all of the news. The finger pointing, the accusations and the pain. Does anyone ever really comprehend how hurtful legalism and gossip really are? (I am pretty sure my own children did some pretty dumb things. I never stopped loving them. Ask them. I never waffled about grace, truth and love, but loved them. ) Is it really what she wore? What she did? Or just that unlike so many bound in the church, you just happened to see it? Continue reading Experiencing Grace Truth and Love

Care About Caring

Coming from a prophetic voice this may sound “silly” but I sense we have missed the thought process of “care about caring.” We have become so enamored about the flash and the miraculous that sometimes we lose track of little scriptures.
Like this one. James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted.
I am obviously not a pastoral gift (Though that being the title they slap on anyone who leads a church fellowship.) but I do care about people. Perhaps not with the same measure of mercy that is enfolded in a pastoral gift (Ephesians 4:11) in their function or grace, but it exists. How many nights have a I cried, praying with tears in my eyes?
Lately I am gripped with the thought of how many are going through physical pain, sickness and illness. I confess I am not “good” about it. It makes me angry and desirous to see it all end. I cannot accept the acceptance of it all. Last night someone’s words about a sickness, couched in these terms, “my sickness” (Interject specific disease.) pinged my redline. (Sorry…)
Today I sit here and I think about my friends who are in the battle against sickness, ailment and disease. Frankly it is a struggle for me. I think we have got so caught up in destiny and what God is doing “for me” that we may have forgot what He wants to do “for them.”
I encourage you to think about those around you in your prayers, words and deeds.
Full Days Ahead – Just Watch and See
Taste and see that the Lord is good. (Psalm 34:8) It continues on to tell us it is in refuge in Him that we have opportunity to see this. In Matthew 5:6 it tells us that “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst…” We are fast approaching the “seeing” of God in many ways. My friend Randall shared last night a testimony that was amazing, of the appearance of God to a former Muslim cleric. This is not the first time I heard a story of this type.
The kingdom of God is at hand. (Matthew 3:2) The “wow’s” of God right before our eyes. As Elisha prayed, Gehazi’s eyes were opened. (2 Kings 6:17) Continue reading Full Days Ahead – Just Watch and See
A Rule Of Ensnarement – A Trap Being Set

Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I am intrigued by history and people who love and understand history. (My thoughts that we have dumbed down the education in this area are known as widely!)
This morning I prepared for church fellowship and I was praying for friends and such. I began to hear words about entrapment. (He showed me very specific entrapments of the enemy for various people and I will be sharing those with them later.) Entrapment is defined at the action or the act of being entrapped or captured. (A little further on it says that the person might be prosecuted for the entrapped act. Isn’t that just like satan? Set you up and then remind you? To no avail if you know the word of God.) The Lord began to reveal traps and strategy to avoid or destroy.

2 Images to Ponder Table Size & Tokens

Last night while I was in service during worship I saw two images. The first was a diamond. The second a token.
The first image was initially the “table in the desert” in Psalm 23. Th table that was prepared for me amongst my enemies. Over the years the Lord has spoken to me that He would use us as a table, a place of communion or community that he would place among enemies. Last night as I watched the table it began to shimmer before my eyes and became a very beautiful fiery diamond. Continue reading 2 Images to Ponder Table Size & Tokens

Last night I had three dreams. The three is not lost on me.
- Each one powerful and I believe with unusual significance.
- Each one was broken up by awakening and a sense of awe.
- The first foreign in nature, the second with relationship starting, the third with relationships.

A Microphone, A Basket & An Old School August 19th 2013

Yesterday my wife came to me during our fellowship service and she had seen three items. She saw a woven basket, a microphone and an old school. Before she came over to me she looked up the words “old school” and she found that part of the descriptive is “form lacking substance.”
Let me start with the old school. We do not need more of the same. The “same” may have had value, may have had a season of awesomeness, but the idea that something without substance will carry us forward is not correct. Continue reading A Microphone, A Basket & An Old School August 19th 2013
The Front Porch Is Just The Beginning

For those in New England there is nothing cooler that sitting on a front porch (Not a deck, but a covered porch.) watching the seasons change or enjoying a summer thunderstorm. The front porch meant exactly that. It was the place where you sat and had family times. It was the place of cool summer drinks and times with friends. Many of the front porches I have had over the years, not only kept the weather off, but provided a respite from the heat of the home in summer. A place to watch the river across the street meander by. New England porches usually were close enough to the road in front to wave to strolling neighbors. Often a neighbor would climb the stairs and sit down with you.
I love front porches. I love the sense of community. The fun times. Continue reading The Front Porch Is Just The Beginning
