A Rule Of Ensnarement – A Trap Being Set

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I am intrigued by history and people who love and understand history. (My thoughts that we have dumbed down the education in this area are known as widely!)

This morning I prepared for church fellowship and I was praying for friends and such. I began to hear words about entrapment. (He showed me very specific entrapments of the enemy for various people and I will be sharing those with them later.) Entrapment is defined at the action or the act of being entrapped or captured. (A little further on it says that the person might be prosecuted for the entrapped act. Isn’t that just like satan? Set you up and then remind you? To no avail if you know the word of God.) The Lord began to reveal traps and strategy to avoid or destroy.

2 Images to Ponder Table Size & Tokens

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

Last night while I was in service during worship I saw two images. The first was a diamond. The second a token.

The first image was initially the “table in the desert” in Psalm 23. Th table that was prepared for me amongst my enemies. Over the years the Lord has spoken to me that He would use us as a table, a place of communion or community that he would place among enemies. Last night as I watched the table it began to shimmer before my eyes and became a very beautiful fiery diamond. Continue reading 2 Images to Ponder Table Size & Tokens

3 dreams August 23rd 2013 Light-Reservations-Change

cropped-cover1.jpgLast night I had three dreams. The three is not lost on me.

  • Each one powerful and I believe with unusual significance.
  • Each one was broken up by awakening and a sense of awe.
  • The first foreign in nature, the second with relationship starting, the third with relationships.

Going To War – A Time Of Prayer, Declaration and Decree

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

I had concluded last night that today I was going to war. Going to war in the fight against injustice. Against wrongdoings. A time of prayer, declaration and decree. I want to be clear I am not going against people. (Ephesians 6) We do not battle people but the devil and dark angels. BUT, we are “battling” a defeated foe. And we battle from a high position, seated with God.

Today is the birthday of my youngest son, Matthew. I am excited for him and all that he has accomplished. (I am excited for all my kids!) In many respects he is the product of “war.” Headed to a Buddhist monastery he had set his sights on, he gave up his possessions and was readying to leave. That prior weekend I had come to the conclusion that this would not, could not, happen on my “watch.” I devoted a time of war and engagement to him. A series of incredible miracles occurred before the end of the week, the most amazing being his salvation that Friday night. Continue reading Going To War – A Time Of Prayer, Declaration and Decree

Trading Places-Exchanging Time For___?

What are you trading for?

Years ago there was a movie called Trading Places. It featured Dan Akroyd and Eddie Murphy. The story line was that Eddie Murphy was scammer, panhandling his way to riches. Dan Akroyd was rich and brought up in the traditions of wealth and finance. The owners of his company made a $1 wager that they could throw Akroyd to the street and give over his job, title and trappings to Murphy. Murphy proved to be shrewd and he and Akroyd partied up and turned the tables on the two company owners. Continue reading Trading Places-Exchanging Time For___?

A Microphone, A Basket & An Old School August 19th 2013

Yesterday my wife came to me during our fellowship service and she had seen three items. She saw a woven basket, a microphone and an old school. Before she came over to me she looked up the words “old school” and she found that part of the descriptive is “form lacking substance.”

Let me start with the old school. We do not need more of the same. The “same” may have had value, may have had a season of awesomeness, but the idea that something without substance will carry us forward is not correct. Continue reading A Microphone, A Basket & An Old School August 19th 2013

The Woman Who Wanted – Constraining The Prophet

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

Yesterday I wrote of the widow Elisha went to, her two sons and the story of the vessels being filled. This is the story of the woman (2 Kings 4:8) who wanted and went to Elisha. This woman was well of, married. She lived in Shunem, a place meaning “uneven.” Previous mentions in scripture indicate this was under the allotment given to the tribe of Issachar. It is also the site of the gathering of the Philistine army against Saul, where he was so frightened he turned to the witch of Endor. It was a farming community through which Elisha passed often. There is a divine “yes” here as the Lord shows you the “have” and the “have not”, the barren and the fruitful, one gave-one received, the married and the widow.

Why is this background important one might ask. The Bible is laden with hidden truths, layers of revelations. Think about it. Not a woman of need, but barren, having no children. Come on! If this was not a set up for God, in a place of unevenness, I do not know what is.  A place where the “sons of Issachar” A place where the “sons of Issachar” (Their name means “there is recompense.” Wow!) had been given their reward. The same tribe that God said “And of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.” 1 Chronicles 12:32 (By the way did you see that “all their kinsmen” statement? Huge!) A place that fear had struck. Continue reading The Woman Who Wanted – Constraining The Prophet

Empty Chairs – An Opportunity For Blessing

empty chairsThis morning I woke, coming out to the living room and sat here for a moment. A quick rehash of what might be accomplished today was on my radar screen.   And then I looked at the floor. Four very empty children’s chairs. A part of me sees the prophetic in the picture. That if you “build” it they will come. The chairs had been moved from our destroyed home in Springfield. My wife and I had cleaned them up and put them on the floor. The first thing my grandchildren did upon arriving last night was go to sit in them excitedly.

There is something about the preparation for a child or children that excites me. These four empty chairs and a table suggested my love for them, hospitality towards them. I never look at those chairs or the pictures of my children without thinking of my love for them. Without uttering a prayer. (There is a large piece here for people. Do children feel welcome?)

Emptiness is a target for the love of the Lord. Do you feel empty? God can fill you up. Continue reading Empty Chairs – An Opportunity For Blessing

When In Rome Do As The Romans Do – When In Heaven…

A Word To Hear
A Word To Hear

At 3AM I heard this statement, “When in Rome do as the Romans do. When in heaven do as the heavenly do.” Wow! Where are you seated? And even as I say it out loud, I wonder is there something to “do as the heavenly dew.”

I am a word person. Not just from a biblical or faith perspective, but from a “what does it mean” perspective. Words have meaning and they have power. It is not about semantics (Now there is a Greek word. It deals with understanding based on historical or psychological emphasis.) but more importantly, the reality, getting the full flavor out of a word or it’s understanding.
