Incoming …A Lot In Between

Many years ago I built homes. We built some pretty extraordinary homes. In the early years we built in the Golden Triangle of Stratton, Bromley and Magic Mountains. Later on over in the western part of Vermont. We built doctor’s offices, indoor swimming pools and lots in between. It seems like there is always a “lot in between”. Some distance between the large times of “wow!” Fortunately those times are getting shorter. Our chronos is shortening and we are seeing an increase in the times of kairos.

One of the things I noticed whole building was it always took a “long time” to get a foundation in place. The site prep work often included digging holes, running lines and setting forms. And then all of a sudden, Voilà, there was a building.

We have moved into that time of Voilà. It is a word used to call attention, to express satisfaction or approval, or to suggest an appearance as if by magic.

Last night I dreamed the following.

The footings had been in place and the cement pump was running. The person running the pump came over to me and said they had “extra cement” or extra foundation material. I told them to use it as we would be needed it. (Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone]) He turned the machine back on.

The next scene was a very large building. I knew it was a “church building”. There was a day of festivities planned. Oh, there were so many people. A small older woman sat there with the registration lists. (I found I was a little frustrated with her because she had used cards of registration for notes.) I watched the dancers and musicians, as well as the acting groups and other acts. Everyone was smiling and laughing. There was no sadness or despair seen. They just kept showing up. The building was so large. Each group or act had its own room to hang out in and prepare.

So much activity. So much preparation.

I awoke. As I often do, I just remained with my head on the pillow, reviewing, re-seeing, re-hearing. I was there for an hour or more.

I found myself concluding with the following thoughts.

  • The foundation is important. Ultimately Jesus is the foundation, but we see Him divvying up His body in Ephesians 4:11 for a work of equipping and building up a body of believers. The foundation is larger than we perceive, greater than we imagine. The pumping of foundations indicated to me the vastness of the work. The fact that there was “extra” indicates people who are called but have not stepped into place. Have not accomplished, yet, that which they have been called to do.
  • All the cards-We will need all the cards because there will be so many. We cannot relegate our lives to “maybe, maybe not” but must embrace the words, actions and results of faith and belief.
  • Many people-There were so many people and they just kept arriving. Do not put up fences of “four and no more” but in fact open your arms to the goodness of God in this hour. He is still moving mightily through His people. And they are still showing up!
  • Joy and Happiness-In the midst of the “doom and gloom” belief I saw joy erupting throughout this crowd of people. Everywhere, everyone.

I personally have heard the words of “revival, unprecedented move of God and be ready”. I have believed in them, participated in the many moves over the years and have not been disappointed. (Were there disappointments? Of course there were, but overall disappointments do not amount to disappointed.)

2013-09-07 13.51.55We have become bored with the words of acceleration, wow and increase. They have become “words” to avoid in many cultures, but I am here to say, they are being released, recognized and realized.

Yep!
Yep!

In my generation we often raced for pink slips or registrations. Two vehicles would line up for the race. Winner would end up with both vehicles. Sometimes motors or transmissions cost a race, but usually it was one person out  driving or holding superior horsepower. I often would offer a passenger the following challenge. I would put a bill on my dash (When cars actually had dashes that could hold something or back windows with a deck wide enough for a child to sleep!) and the offer would be if you can get your hand to the money before I am through the gears it is yours.

The reason they could not was sheer acceleration, torque, horsepower and momentum. The ability to pull one’s self up to reach the money was in opposition to the forces of acceleration and momentum. (I guess in some cases it is “futile to resist”.)

We are there! The momentum is increasing. The thrill of acceleration in upon us. But as of yet we are not “racing” but we are starting to feel the acceleration. So what does that mean? I think it means our “valleys” or chronos times are shortening as we recognize our timelessness. (For instance I need something in my life “right now” but it is only at that some point, there is a release or a revelation and I receive it.) Activity does not always indicate God’s appearance but it always indicates life!

What do we do? We rest! We enjoy ALL of our times. Embrace ALL of our times. How we respond in the slower times, the more difficult times is often the precedent to our mountain times or our kairos times.

whitehouseI was nudged to say this. Act precedential. Act on the “precedent” of His death, burial and resurrection. His precedent affirms your present. To act precedential is to act on precedent. His precedent. Walk as if you have received. And then I heard to act presidential with the nature of the Precedent. He went before you. He set in motion all things. His precedent is your precedent.

Nothing can explain the excitement of sitting in one of my race cars over the years and “stepping on the gas”. Just when everyone thinks you are done, you tromp down and everything changes.

Some will choose to race, to explore and others may not. But there is joy. There is peace.  More and more we read of dead being raised, bodies healed and lives changed. WOW! But the real move will be taking the “mountain” to the valleys. Bringing the bread of heaven to the streets. I love gold nuggets appearing church (One of my friends recently had this happen.), but what if everyone had gold nuggets appear in their home? (Tropical storm Irene opened up new pockets of gold as her waters raced through Vermont. What will the waters of God reveal? Release?) What if gemstones appeared? What if bank accounts filled? Folks-those things have happened and will continue to happen.

The revealing of God is what is being revealed through His people in this hour.

Let me just say I had some pretty awesome cars over the years, with tons of power. I have raced motorcycles and cars. Nothing compares to the “wow” of God.

Fire, forward, fast
Fire, forward, fast

(The car in the pic is one of my favorite old cars I had. A 1970 Boss 302 machined to 500HP. )
