Maybe, Just Maybe We Are Readying For A Gold Rush

trashWhen you have lots of dreams you often wonder what is for you, what is pizza and what has relevance to others. Last night was a night where I had some 10 dreams. This was after not thinking I had really seen a dream for 2 days. What do you do with all that? Even processing them and giving thought to relevance was a task. But many years ago when I owned a large rock, mineral and gemstone store I learned the value of combing the edges of a stream looking for the flakes of gold, sifting through dirt to find a gemstone. Elijah talked about a cloud the size of a “man’s hand”. It was the preceding vision to what was to come. One of the greatest hindrances to finding truth, receiving revelation and just plain “getting it” is the idea that it always is going to be huge. Sometimes the smallest nugget of truth is the catalyst for the greatest change. I encourage you to develop eyes that see and can see well.

After spending a lot of the early morning hours thinking about this I landed on one that had the most significance to me. It was the announcement of a friend’s wedding. What was unique was not so much the person or the person he was to marry, but the announcement itself. The announcement was “interactive” in the sense that as you move it across the screen it not only enlarged areas mentioned, but it also “took you there”.

The wedding was to take place just south of the border in Massachusetts. In an area called Pioneer Valley. But as I move about the map, I initially receive information about the place and then a short video happens and then if I got the end of the video I was “pulled” into the place.

burningnewenglandNow the interesting thing about a lot of this area is it runs along the Pioneer Valley. The Pioneer Valley runs with what is called the “college highway” or Route 5 in Massachusetts. Much of this area is steeped in history including a lot of revival history. Many revivalists like Finney, Moody and Edwards were in this area.

Now, I am going to probably alienate some, but here is a lot of my thinking on revivals past and the preachers of those days. First no matter how great they were as men, they were men. God is no respecter of persons. They had nuggets of truth but in 100-200 years great pockets of truth have been unearthed and revealed.

For 20 plus years I have read the works of revivalists and revivals. The common thread is this. A man, God and a relationship with Him. You can chase old wells (Why? In the Bible wells, especially old wells were often the place of confrontation.) and look for the map, but here is what I have discovered. (My opinion and my thoughts.) God made and included a man in His covenant. God’s New Covenant was God with God. Man got the best deal. God can’t mess up and He included you. You are His place of revival. You are His new well. In you are the nuggets of truth that you seek, for all the wisdom of the ages is on the inside.

Back to the dream. My thinking is simple. God is making a “high way” for His people. His “pioneers” will take the truth, carrying water from new wells uncovered to places that will include colleges and universities. I would say to you that the next 6 months will be important to those understanding or seeing the reaching of the colleges to be on their radar screen. Carry the truth from on high in to the valleys of regions.

The other day I said for the water to rise their must be containment or constraint on some level. Throughout New England water was harnessed to provide power to grind flour and to run mills. The river of life is power producing. As we embrace the rivers of life power will be released.

Some of the greatest entrepreneurs of the gold rush of the 1850’s and ’60’s were not those who found the gold, but those who came alongside with equipment, food and supplies. My friend in the dream is a pretty solid entrepreneur, businessman and innovator. Innovation is coming. The revivalists of old were often amazing but we are not in a season of recycling old messages and thought process but uncovering the new truths of a new day and increasing our understanding and revelation of truths previously shown.

Here is what I see happening. A few nuggets of truth have been uncovered. (Some of those things include but are not limited to the finished work, identity and grace.) Everybody rushed to the truth, but not seeing “gold” laying on the surface of the ground were disappointed. (John 6) Some of those packed up and went somewhere else. The enemy of our soul then sent claim jumpers, robbers, swindlers and thieves to steal what God has provided for His people. (John 10) But there are pioneers who will persevere to uncover the riches the Lord has provided. There are those “entrepreneurs” who will come alongside with building and equipping. (We call them the five fold) Who are there to bring tools and provision. Not to mine themselves so much as to help others to mine.

Where is that treasure to be? The Bible says out of the goodness of the heart come good treasures. Jesus made your heart good. Our revival will be an understanding of what He has done on the inside and move it to the outside!

The marriage. (First let me be clear, this marriage is not about people but about thought process.) My friend as I said is an innovator. His wife to be and my friend, by all standards, is pretty wild and out there. Where he is stable she is prone to spontaneity. God is both. (At least by our standards. While God is aware He was going to “wow” us, it appears in a moment with us.) I strongly believe we are going to see the greatest “church” gatherings to provide a vehicle and a place where the “wow’s” of God can be not only received but encouraged.

While this dream in fact may truly be talking about New England, more importantly is the fact that each of us carries revival in us just waiting, looking for a place to be released. And while it is good to look for revival sometimes the greatest times of revival occur when we just pour out side what is on the inside. So many I know are chasing some thing they already have. You have been given the gift of righteousness or right standing.

I feel there is one more thing about a “gold rush.” Everyone is headed for the gold. That is important. But not everyone may find it. Why? Just because we head where others are going first and foremost does not mean we are to do “what they do”. Secondly, it is the time you invest with God that reveals where the “gold” is.

While the Olympics are over for four more years you can still “go for the gold”.
