Today is my youngest son’s birthday! He will be 27. Seems like only yesterday that we saw him come into the life as we know it. Only days later carrying him (And his sister!) home from the hospital.

My wife has gone away for a few days with a friend. I am excited for her. The beach is her love. Me, I am lake kind of guy. So, the big question is what will I do with a few days of quiet on my hand. Each month I have established the first Sunday of the month for my family to gather. Each person brings food, love and seemingly, more grandkids! For me it was a way to see my children together and to provide a vehicle for them build better relationships with one another. It has worked well. One of the things I do is prepare a soup. Experience and your reality of the past determine your understanding and capture of a future. But often your reality is not the reality of heaven. Culture and The Change Within…
Lately I have been feeling the pressure to change the culture. Not just the culture of my community but the culture of the church. There is a lot out there about the culture and what we “need” to do but my thinking is along the following lines.
From Merriam’s a particular definition set. In bold I am hitting some key words.
a : the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations
b : the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group; also : the characteristic features of everyday existence (as diversions or a way of life} shared by people in a place or time <popular culture> <southern culture>
c : the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization <a corporate culture focused on the bottom line>

Yesterday I had a meeting and the topic that came out of it was a “dream center.” The day before someone said “your life is predicated on dreams. You ought to consider a dream center.” So what about dreams?
While working on the manual for prophetic workshops I find I devote a lot prophecy changing a life.
A number of years ago I was invited to a meeting. I was asked to minister to youth. Imagine my surprise to arrive and find out they were “heavy metal” followers not with Jesus. I found that out after the meeting but I was pretty sure! An outreach. The owners of the club asked me to step right on up in the midst of their play “because they will never stop playing if you don’t.” There were over 80 of these young people. Whatever message I had planned went right out the window because I was not aware of what I was “walking into.” So I stepped up and they respectfully stopped. I often find myself coming up against myself. What does that mean? It is those times where I cannot seem to gain headway. The difficulty is I am often sure it is the Lord holding me back. Recently I have felt that way. I have watched all my supports evaporate. The last few weeks has had me wondering. Even when I remove the feelings of the intensity, I see that there is something underlying that I have not plumbed. I do not suggest that the Lord ruined home or finance, but for whatever the reason His intervention was not there. (I do not blame Him, nor am I even frustrated as to “why.”) And so I was “up against the wall” in my thinking.

The other day I wrote an article on the God Card. That article also “iced” some people as they saw themselves in it. The only reason for playing the God Card is to win. Not God wins, you win. Another recent article was discussing the idea of marriage and what blessing means in a marriage. That one had some detractors as well. Priorities and filters, the same.
