The Wallet Of Faith

changeOver the last few weeks, maybe months I have witnessed folks, who are only going through the motions. The world’s existence is overwhelming them. Bringing them to the ground. Crushing them. My questions is “where is your faith?”

This is not going to be a lengthy writing on the subject of “what is faith”.  Far better men and women have written that story. But I am asking where is YOUR faith?

If you have been around the church any stretch of time there are two scriptures you have heard or read.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Romans 12:3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

You have received a MEASURE of faith. Just as I carry a dollar bill in my wallet, I have the knowledge that it is there. BUT (And here is where the fall down is…) just because I have it does not mean I will use it. Or employ its value. And yet, if I go to the store and pick up my grandson a 97¢ toy car, I know that when I get to the register it is a done deal. (And that I will depart with 3¢ left over for my piggy bank. Thank you NH and no sales tax!)

My knowledge or belief is in the fact that I “know” it is there. I have something.

And now we get to the tricky part. Just because I have a $1 or the measure of faith does not mean I do not have to employ it or implement it to see results.

My confidence is in the fact that I will open my wallet and VOILA! There will be a dollar. My confidence when faced with a challenge is that I will “open my faith wallet” and there it will be. I still have to take it out.  With assurance that when I open my wallet a dollar will be there. That I will open my “faith wallet” and with confidence utilize it.

Here are some things that need you to open your wallet of faith. Your marriage! Your health! Your workplace! Your children.! But it does not end here. You must begin to walk as if the subject has been paid for. Peace in your marriage. Confidence in your work and your workplace. Who else if not you is going to open their wallet of faith? It is time to pay out with boldness. With confidence. With assurance. That you can “afford” it. That you can pay for this!

Do NOT let life steamroller you. Do not operate in what you see, but in the unseen and that it can actually happen.

And if need be cry outwith “I believe! Heal my unbelief!”

Folks-this is a now word for you. For me. We need to release our faith and walk as the righteousness of God with the knowledge that our faith is a mountain of “money” that has been given to us because we have received a measure of faith and needs to be used.

Perhaps for myself and maybe others is the knowledge that I must open my “wallet” and release my faith with the promise of God that I may enter His rest. (As I meditated on that I realized rest is a PLACE! It is not a place that once visited you get to keep without faith. It is the place of dynamic existence more so than a mental ascension. Just because I can think of rest does not mean I have accomplished rest.) And I will know that I am there because urgency has evaporated. Anxiety has disappeared. And I am overcome by peace.

Faith is not a thought, though it may begin as a thought. For instance, “I can move this mountain” is a thought and the gateway to faith. But only when I have begun the mountain moving have I moved from a static existence (Or thought.)to a dynamic existence(Or reality.)

It is walking in the light (Not just bright place but a place of weightlessness. )His burden is light.(Not just bright but not heavy!)and not in the shadows or the darkness.

Stop the steamroller and overtake life. You are the head and not the tail. Your response will be evidenced by your walk and your talk.

I have viewed over my life four stages of a walk. One, is the stage where you allow life to overtake you and you yell and you scream about the unfairness. As you become a little more mature, you come to stage two and you say nothing. (Definitely reminded of Sargent Schultz here!) A little better than stage one but still not a winning position. Maturity brings you to stage three where you begin to speak the words of life and liberty. But there is a stage four. And that is when having spoke the words, you simply be. You live in the existence of your faith. You walk in the victory of that spoken word and unseen place with confidence.

And soon you will realize that “wallet of faith” can not contain the blessings. For abundant life is resulting as you sow your faith with the confidence and assurance of one who knows the value it contains.

When faith is removed from the wallet the wallet becomes lighter and the world becomes lighter…
