Trading Good For God

preachingatvillageAll that glitters is not gold or so the saying goes. Actually the words came from Shakespeare in The Merchant Of Venice, where it says “all that glisters is not gold”. The meaning is the not everything that is shiny is necessarily valuable.

As a child I would go to the local rivers and dig up “gold” or fool’s gold (Pyrite). Later, I had an amazing pyrite collection, along with some beautiful real gold nuggets. But the pyrite was worth little. And that is the point of the phrase. Lots of things can look like gold but it does not mean they have the same value as gold. Are they?  Hmmm…Probably not! Past Your Pain Point

leejohndrowteamI thought about something a friend wrote yesterday. He was talking about the difference between a New Testament prophet and an Old Testament one.

Understandably, an Old Testament prophet would pronounce judgment on a nation. A New Testament prophet, however, can not ignore the fact that NOW we’re given a ministry of announcing, “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins against them…”. “Counting their sins” isn’t prophetic but seeing their destiny IS. Wanting To Hear From The Lord

leejohndrowteamI have been around long enough to have seen a few things in my life. One of the things I do is encourage people to hear from the Lord. To hear from Him directly. How do I know? Everywhere I turn there are dream sites and meetings. I have taught on prophecy and dreams for years.

But there are two observations I have. One is the person who is always looking for an answer from someone. (I personally believe you hear better for you than I do for you!) They are wanting to have someone else do it. I think it interesting that we think enough of a dream or a word to believe it from God but we do not trust that we have the ability to employ discernment or understanding. Wisdom AND revelation ought to walk together Continue reading Wanting To Hear From The Lord

The Victory Is Mine!

Ready for God to express Himself.
Ready for God to express Himself.

If there is one thing I have figured out about the Lord is He loves a winner. But His method and manner of getting a winner often begins with one who has lost a time or two. Or is too small. Or too weak. But somehow the miracle working power of the Almighty Himself changes a person into a winner. He takes the normal everyday life of a man or woman and supercharges it. Character And Grace

preachingatvillageWhile reading the news this morning in the quiet I have before the day starts, I thought how different is life these days. How much do people really think is important? How much responsibility do they think they have? If there is one thing that defines character, it is most likely accepting the responsibility for “failure” and doing something about it. Continue reading Character And Grace

What Me Worry? Love Is The Answer!

leejohndrowteamIt was raining pretty hard as I drove down the country road. There were two others in the car. I saw the person long before we got really close. She was wearing a white coat.I knew I had to stop and pick her up. I opened the rear door and she got in. She thanked us and answered the questions folks asked of her. She needed to make a call but there was no cell service, so I offered her the phone in the farmhouse we were headed to. Continue reading What Me Worry? Love Is The Answer!

You Are Better Than That

leejohndrowteamWhat is it we need in our lives to cause us to grow in to all that He believes for us in us?

I have been giving this a lot of thought. We are better than we think. We are more loving, more powerful and more loved than we know. We are better than that!

I find that I am saying this to a lot of people lately. “You are better than that.” Not just because of a “bad choice” but some of the “settling for choices” as well. Continue reading You Are Better Than That

Praise Him…Even When It Is Tough

"Use me!"
“Use me!”

A conversation came up last night about being married, being a parent. My wife said that people often talk to here about how she and I do things. She said “people that flow together have learned to flow during times when ‘flowing’ was not happening”. We had some difficult times in our marriage. But we had to put aside the “d word” (Divorce) and decide that it was for our children. That the legacy of marriage and security was greater than the desire to be separate.

I share the following story from June of 1997. Continue reading Praise Him…Even When It Is Tough

Treasure Hunting Can Be Work

leejohndrowteamTonight a dear friend was gracious enough to allow me to go treasure hunting. It had been many years since I took a metal detector out to a field and just walked around. How much different are they than they were 30 years ago. (And thirty years ago you could not tell the difference between a coin and TV dinner tray!)

So armed with one of the latest models of metal detectors and a little instruction, we headed to different parts of the meadow. It was only moments before the tones started indicating metal. First a nail… Continue reading Treasure Hunting Can Be Work

What Were You Created For?

preachingatvillageToo often in our lives, we come to the place where something no longer makes sense and we want to give up. Perhaps it is loss or injury or illness. But it takes the life “out of you” and you want no more.

I recently began something new, something different. In this case the casualty was my creativity. What I do has little opportunity for creativity or coloring outside the lines. Continue reading What Were You Created For?
