Close Encounters Of The God Kind

preachingatvillageA week or so ago, I wrote on to tactics of the enemy. One was being disconnected. The other was an attack on health. I received a lot of communication from folks indicating that they were encountering one or the other, or sometimes both. The issue is not whether I correctly saw, but what we are going to do with it.

In December of 2005, I had a couple of dreams. They were brought back to me.

We knew dreams would be of the Lord. We knew we would have them. Did we know that as we approached the throne room of heaven in a more intimate way, God would have our number on speed dial? (My thinking is now is that we are always here, we just need to remember it. More on this in a moment.)

Why write about dreams now? Because I believe these announce a new dimension of what God may be doing here.

(I had asked the Lord for an answer about a situation.) What I saw was angels on alert. Come on! I know this! No, this was different. As soon as I picked a “target” the angel was off. This angel was an angel of “confrontation” for I have no other word than that. As I ran through my list of “targets” the angels jetted off to “confront.” Now, I will tell you. I have only had “visions” and dreams of angels. As I read through the scriptures when an angel showed up that person was different…for ever! So many tell me they see angels without these results that I am not so sure I believe them. 15 years ago Jesus showed up in my car. My life changed forever! And I was scared! And when I got where I was supposed to be, people knew something had happened. A miracle happened for one of my children. But guys, I am telling you it was not on my grid! It was “frightening.” (Just the other night, I saw these same angels while in prayer.)

And everywhere I “looked” an angel of confrontation headed out. I felt like a jet fighter. No buttons, no words, just “lock in” and “FIRE!”

And the second dream came along. I had people in my home when a busload of people showed up at my home. They came to bring me a “community” Bible. I did not accept it because I had Bibles. Tons of them. Why? Because I believe God will show up and the cases of Bibles I have will be gone in a heartbeat. I even prayed over them yesterday as I was cleaning house. These people wanted to talk. But there was one man (They introduced themselves to me and I am excited because to the best of my knowledge before I went to bed, two of these people were not saved!) who as he gave me my name, I did not know him but I clear as a bell heard his name. (Removed his name because some 5 years later I met him.). Now, I really do not know this guy, but trust me, he was saved. So, if that name is on your radar screen, press in. The name is not a name I now. The Community Bible I believe is relevant because God is handing over deeds to towns. They are not going to an organization. They are going to a people who will pray. I think it is ironic that they drove up the mountain in a bus.

So, what does this all mean?
I felt the Lord agree that there was a grace for angels of confrontation. That these angels would not be held up for days or weeks or a time. but they were the “smart bombs” of God given over to a people who will pray for the end of injustice. Who will stand up and defend the downtrodden. Many years ago I began to teach a Jewish principle. It went like this. The church has a responsibility to lift the downtrodden WITHOUT destroying the oppressor.

That was from 2005. On Wednesday night I saw these same angels. The same dreams become a vision! And that brings me to this.

Putting the cart before the horse. That simply means making the decision to the last thing before the first thing. I have been “seeing” a lot of it. It is not the attack of the enemy, but it is the response of the people to something that “stirs” them or tempts them. I have realized that all temptation is, is a stirring of the waters of calmness that ought to dwell in me.

Many years ago, I had a driving instructor, who in his determination to get me to accelerate slower (Isn’t that an oxymoron?) or brake slower, would put a cup of water on the dash (When cars had a dash…). The goal? To maneuver without spilling the water as we drove through New Haven Connecticut. “Drive gently” he would say.

God is doing something amazing in the body of Christ. The hard part is getting from the beginning, while seeing the end and making the ascension. But we must be ready!

Too often we know where we “want” to be or suspect where we “ought” to be. So we know there is a place. I will simply share with you that the place is one of rest, of calmness, of serenity and one of joy. The scriptures indicate that our “work” is to labor to enter His rest. It is not a static thing, but something that requires your awareness to get there and remain there. It is a “labor” we are told in the book of Hebrews. I read this and I thought how true. “Life is not a static thing. The only people who do not change their minds are those in asylums, who can’t are those in cemeteries.” Everett Dirksen said that and I paraphrased it slightly. I think it sums it up pretty well.

We know where we want to be. We listen to messages of wealth, health and happiness and we say “yes”. In the church we hear messages that have a similar ring, a similar tone, but we know they are backed up in scripture. So, as a little old lady would continuously ask, “where’s the beef?” Where is the substance she was saying. I ask the same question. Where is the substance of your belief, the result of your faith?

It is time. Even as I write about abundance, I think many “know” it but can they believe it…

Today, simply believe…

One of the questions I ask clients is, “if you had a magic wand…” The reality of it is…we do. It is the scepter of Christ that was wielded on our behalf.

What does that mean? It means that there are promises that have been laid up for you. (You may even feel like they are a carrot dangling before you.) “What do I do” is your question. My answer is DON’T put the cart before the horse! Yes, I want you to have faith. Yes, I want you to embrace the reality. BUT, please let peace be your watch word. I see too many who see the answer, even get the answer and then when it is tested, they wither away. Disappointed, discouraged, heart broken.

That responses makes for a “topsy turvy” existence. Up one day, down another. It is like the cup of water my instructor placed on the dash. Always being spilled until you realize the value of “driving gentle”. I do believe there are times of extreme acceleration, but until you can preserve what is being carried (The water.) it may not be of value.

When I speak of abundance, lots of people are excited. They think, “yay now!” But it has never been with God to not see what happens and how you handle it in your “off times”. It is not about punishment but IT IS about wisdom. My grandson Jacob talks all the time about driving a car, but it would not be wisdom to “hand him the keys” today.

Today, let God reign in your hearts. Colossians 3:15 says, “Also, let Christ’s peace control you. God has called you into this peace by bringing you into one body. Be thankful.”

Oh, I truly hear the sound of abundance, but here is my final question for you today. When the prophet shows at your home, where will your vessels come from? And when “the rains of abundance” come will you be able to “hold it”?

And those angels? They are waiting for your beckoning call. To be released. To bring encounters. The other night after prayer, I wrote this.

Last night I was praying for people of influence, decisions makers and those that oversee our nation. As I prayed, I saw angels being sent to their sides.

I was not praying “against” their will just declaring encounters of the God kind.

So much of what changed in my life changed in an encounter. Most people held out little hope for me prior to that.

I see too many that do not see the value of “love is patient, kind and long suffering…”

The community, it is there waiting for you to be part of it. God gave it to us all. What will we do with it, rests on us.

Today is your day to enter His rest and plug in with His community. (Have you ever thought, that it is an extension of His rest?) To know that He is watching over you!
