Machias “God Loves The Witches” 2006

Machias_1861_webIn 2006 I had the opportunity to minister with a couple of wonderful men. Rich Brink at the time was in Waterville Maine. (He is now part of the Global Celebration Ministries with Georgian Banov.) Ralph Ackley was the minister in Machias where the meeting was. The meeting was originally billed as “God Loves The Witches” and morphed to “A Quest For Spirituality.”

One of the interesting things leading up to this meeting was a call I received one night from a “pastor” who accused me of “tinkling in her cheerios.” It turned out that she was the leader of the largest pagan church in the region with over 1,000 members. She was aware of my background.

She promised to show up and boycott us. That never happened.

This is the report I offered up to our followers and prayer folk at the time.

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

We began our journey at 11AM on Friday. We traveled through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Myself, my wife Tina and a 22 year old minister named Ken. Conversation was abundant, though not as a deep as one might of thought. We were preparing in our hearts for what we might encounter. As we all noticed, the first five hours was a breeze. The next five hours felt as though we entered a time warp of sorts. It seemed to take forever. So far to the end of Maine that my phone dropped out numerous times and I joked that it said “you have now left the USA.” We finally arrived in Machias and found the college campus and pulled up, meeting a woman named Krissie who has been praying for us from a church in New Brunswick. Ken grabbed his guitar and we entered to have a time of worship and prayer. Rich, Ken and a 15 year old man named Aaron, found the harmony of God (they had never played together.) and this time was precious. The people that showed up were gracious. As I gave a prophetic word, I sensed the peace of God entering the area. Here we were meeting in the science hall where evolution was taught and I was speaking of the Creator.

Last week I addressed the peace of God and I shared that it is a great gift from the Father.

We returned to Pastor Ralph’s home and some slept in the church, an attached barn at the end of their home. We enjoyed a time of fellowship and then we were off to the “eagle’s nest” to sleep. I awoke early and began to prepare my heart. Breakfast came and went and after a short time of fellowship we were off to the campus.

The four women who showed from New Brunswick were people of prayer and I am so thankful for them and their determination. As we entered the room, the room was filled with the presence of God.

The first miracle was no protestors. People began to show up and Rich opened the meeting. He shared on the history of the supernatural. I was next and I shared of the power of the supernatural. I shared that one of the greatest gifts was that peace. A supernatural peace that transforms a community. I think all of us thought that we could be heading into a confrontation. We had a word from a French intercessor (Anissa) that the heart of the queen bee had been softened. The witch’s leader did not show.

A young couple walked in right before I spoke. And at the break I introduced myself to Jammielee and Angela. I probed him for the reason he was there. He said he had practiced Wicca and he didn’t see anything supernatural and the brochure had caught his eye. I asked “did you want to see something supernatural.” He said “yes.” I said “cool!” She was not so sure. But I began to describe what I had seen over them when they walked in the door. Him, with a guitar and her with painting. She started to tell me and I asked her to stop. “Could I pray for you,” I asked. They said “yes.” As I closed my eyes the presence of God showed up. Their past, their present, their future. She began to cry as I described the relationship with her father and I ended up giving her what her father could not. A hug and a blessing.

We returned to the room as three of us gave our testimonies. Jammie gave me a thumbs up and we opened the front for dream interpretation and words of destiny. The prophetic was in the room. Healing was in the room. As Jammie and Angela came forward, others added to the pictures that had been revealed and prayed for them.

If there was no other reason for me to be in Machias, the meeting with them was worth it all. After we prayed and the meeting ended, I realized that there was something God was trying to say. See, the witch last week accused me of coming “to tinkle her in her cheerios” as she put it. Translation. We do not need you here and not in our backyard.

On the way back, I wondered what had happened. People’s lives were changed. The church received instruction. I told them the supernatural is where people take a risk. And when we take a risk, we will see the place of need. Only when there is a need will something fill it. And what fills it can be good or bad. If we the church, do not take the risk, the enemy’s camp will fill it. And the church that wants to see the supernatural will have to go where the needs are and take a risk. Why do people pursue witchcraft? Because those that are involved speak openly about it. They take a risk. Those risk takers that are in the church know what I am talking about. When they take a risk, something shifts.

It was risk on all our parts. We could have died. We could have lived. But three of us had said no matter what, we were going in. And so, conversations after indicated that people in the community had expected something to happen(the local McDonald’s) and it did not. Some of the people went to Lubec to leave a deposit of the Lord’s anointing. And so perhaps the greatest miracle was this.

PEACE! We brought the message of peace and love and grace and left it behind. We brought the supernatural and it was undeniable. But the peace that passes all understanding was greater.

Jer 29:7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace .

That scripture always percolates through my mind. A community of peace and love and joy is the ultimate appearance of the Lord.

For me..I am already planning for the next meeting of this sort.

And for you. You were a faithful group of people praying. We knew our requests were answered through your faithfulness and willingness. The atmosphere over New England is changing. Young people are coming in. Our ceiling must be their floor.

Thank you.

Blessings,
Lee
