Drill A Little Deeper

2014-05-03 13.25.11It is Fathers Day Weekend. I actually was reviewing some pics of my dad, shots with my children over the years and some letters I have received and such. I guess nostalgic would describe some of it. (This past week I actually put together a series of 5 articles on dads.) But now I have 3 of my children married (Two who are the dads.) and I think what was it like to be a young dad. Continue reading Drill A Little Deeper

Where Does My Hope Come From?

preachingatvillageToo often in our lives we are confronted with the idea that we don’t count. That what we do does not matter.

The last week I watched yet one more crazy incident affect the lives of neighbors, school children and a community. The issue is not the incident itself but the feeling of hopelessness that has gripped the community. As I read the blogs, the articles, the comments, it is clear that the “insecurity” that has prevailed is increasing rather than decreasing. “Doesn’t God love everyone Lee?” Absolutely! I believe that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Continue reading Where Does My Hope Come From?

Fathers Day Week Part 4 – Honor Your Wife

leejohndrowteamI am a dad. I want the best for my children and my grandchildren and all the generations to come. And as I come up to Fathers Day next week, it is my heart to write on 5 things that I think are important to dads. As I listen to my grandchildren pray for their “dad” to return to their life, I cry inside. I hurt for them. So, if as a dad, I can stop one child from going through that, then I feel it is all worth it.

Insanity is… Until You See a Better Way

leejohndrowteamWhen I was a young man I did a lot of foolish things. I grew up in an era of fast cars and bikes and I pushed the limits everywhere I went. I caused myself and others a lot of pain. Racing, illegal stunts and more. (One of my dumbest was showing off to friends in the middle of a busy road. Pulling a wheelie in front of the restaurant where my friends were, I thought I “had it”. But I did not count on the car pulling out of the right hand road. I was forced to come down hard, and while I was able to be on the top of the bike, it was headed towards a moving tractor trailer that had pulled out of the “entrance” of a business. I was trapped and as I went under the trailer, I thought, “this could be it”. Moments later I was on the other side and my pride was relatively in tact as I yelled at the drivers. My handlebars were bent but I was able to drive home. Some years later I came to the conclusion that it was dumb and I was the wrongful party. ) I had accidents, court appearances and pain over my foolishness. Where Is Your Family?

2014-05-16 18.40.52A thought for my friends about the finished work, revival, and such.

Over the last few months I have had a number of people talk to me about family. I have thought long and hard about it. So many are bemoaning the “loss” of their family while in pursuit of the Lord. Here is one of the statements one made to me. “ I have also been dwelling on what good does it do if I get it but no one else in the family does.” That is it! Where would God be without His family? Why sacrifice for the “whole world” if He was going to keep it to one? Continue reading Where Is Your Family?

Overcomers Or Overcome? The Answer Is Behind Door #2

preachingatvillageToday I had to drive over one hour to a work training. On the way there I felt extremely overwhelmed. There were things coming into my mind that I never think about. I saw thoughts of suicide, homicide, depression and so many dark thoughts, I found myself weeping and crying out to the Lord. At first I thought it was me. But as soon as I got through the first turn of the company’s parking lot, the feelings lifted. Respite. What was all that I wondered. Continue reading Overcomers Or Overcome? God Isn’t Mad At You!

time to leave
time to leave

I meet a lot of people and a lot of them think God is mad at them. He is not.

When I was 15 it was time to get my license. Because I did not attend a public school, I was told that to drive a family car (And save money on my insurance, etc..) I would need driver’s ed. So, I had to make the decision to go to driver’s ed on Saturdays to complete it. And I did have the option of a standard.

My first driving lesson (Not in the classroom) I met Chuck Roberts. He showed up in a tan VW bug. On top was strapped a big yellow and brown sign with the name of the school. Interesting things happened over the next few weeks. I learned to drive in downtown New Haven Connecticut in rush hour! One time I was confronted with 3 “lefts” and I chose the wrong one. Chuck reached over and kept me out of the one way street! Continue reading God Isn’t Mad At You!

No Longer A Ride On The Wild Side

leejohndrowteamThis is a longer writing. I wish I knew how to keep things short, but… What I have written is a “recording” of events that are occurring and steps that are necessary in a believer’s life. As much as I hate to admit it, there are indeed fiery trials. Our job is to listen to God, reveal His glory and move in the purpose He has established for us. Simple? Some are shaking their heads “no”. The biggest thing to keep in mind as you read this, is the body of Christ is important to our purpose.

Key thought? Stay plugged in! Continue reading No Longer A Ride On The Wild Side
