A Simple Word, A Word Of Peace

dronesofheaven

bird nestMany years ago I found myself in trouble. Not just a little trouble but a lot. I did not know peace and I tried to find it.

Long before I ever got saved I sought to find peace. I was tortured by depression, anxiety and such. I was on enough medicines to sink a battleship.

And then one day in the midst of turmoil the Lord spoke to me and peace came in the midst of the storm. And I came to realize that His peace was supernatural and efficient in ways I could never imagine. Certainly years of self-help, meditation and seeking had not worked for me. We Are Not Puppets

blue laserLast night as my wife and I were driving home, I saw amazing “blue lasers” come out of the sky. At first I thought it might be reflections in the air from a police car and its blue lights. But clearly they were directional blue as if shot from lasers.

I shared with my wife.

My thought at the time was simple. Continue reading We Are Not Puppets

How To Lose Polarization In 6 Days

can we talkI could only hope! Last night I wrote, “I love my friends.” I do. I really do. And I have friends across the spectrum. I have friends who are the antithesis of most of what I believe, in fact. I have friends who are not Democrats, not liberal, not believers, not heterosexual. I have friends who probably step way over the lines towards anarchy and others who think “too much government” is not enough.

The other day I made a comment about various aspects of the government and some were concerned. Let me make it clear, I think we are in trouble and the answer is in us and not in a top heavy government. With that said, my answer lies in Christ and not in man. Friends Don’t Let Friends Lose Their Future

changeprocessI read a particular article that came close to home. It showed a community that was being forced to make large decisions regarding school children. The town like many is on the “downhill slide” in regard to economics.

I read a similar article on a region troubled by decreasing business and a declination in the business atmosphere. Continue reading Friends Don’t Let Friends Lose Their Future

Vision Sunday 11/10/13

During worship in our fellowship, I received a vision I felt I was to share with the prophetic class I would be working with at night. Holding my granddaughter Naomi, the vision appeared and began to just “consume” me with intensity.

VISION

I saw a large ocean area far from the beach. The blue-green of the water intrigued me.  In the far distance I saw the white crest of the waves from the foam as they moved.

And then my eyes saw the lone surfer in the water. Paddling, it was clear to see that he was losing his energy. In the back ground I saw the long, beginning arch of a gigantic wave. But the surfer was not seeing it. It got larger and larger in my view. The intensity of it was real. I could hear the hissing of the foam. I could hear the quiet as it began to consume the smaller waves.

The Lord took me out of that vision. I was looking into the eyes of my granddaughter. The music was playing. A couple was dancing.

I thought “wow, is this for now?” Nothing fit. Nothing made sense.

THINKINGS

I went through worship a little discombobulated. I was thinking. Was he going to miss the wave? Was he going to turn around? The Lord spoke to me about timing. I thought of Issachar. (Funny my friend Mark would share about the woman and the oil who was from Shunem in the tribe of Issachar.)

Last night I shared with our prophetic class the vision and what I thought was being spoken.

  • That many saw themselves as the surfer. Out there. Paddling. With no around.
(Hebrews 12:12 “For this cause let the hands which are hanging down be lifted up, and let the feeble knees be made strong,”)
  • That there many who felt as though they had “missed” a previous wave and were destined to just paddling. (Joshua 1:5 “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.”)
  • That it was necessary to evaluate our circumstances, to look around. (Psalm 8:6-8 “You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.”)
  • To recognize why you are there.  (Habakkuk 2:3 “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”)
  • To see the timing of it all..  (1 Chronicles 12:32 “Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.”)
  • Recognize that when the wave comes it will be a time to stand. (Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”)
  • You will “walk” on the waters of life and be in His rest.  (Psalm 93:4 “The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.”

There is a beginning and an end to most things. This describes where we might be. You are not too old (Caleb –Joshua 14:11-12), too small (Gideon-Judges 6:15)or  too uneducated (Acts 4:13). You did not miss it. You may get caught up in the circumstance, but lift your eyes to the hills …wait …you can look inside! That is where your help comes from. You are not subject to atmospheres. You are the atmosphere. You are a thermostat and not a thermometer. (I Timothy 4 Paul asks this of Timothy.)  You are not looking for the light, you are the light. You are not looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, for you are the light in the tunnel.(Matthew 5:14)

A wall of water can be pretty destructive. Or you can get on top of it. This is a season of walking on waters, (Matthew 14:22-33) of rising above (Isaiah 40:31) and being the head and not the tail. (Job 9:8)

I encouraged the class to take this word and begin to prophesy to their families, their friends their communities.

“Stand! Stand up! Get up! This is your season. This is your wave. This is it! The great wave that will sweep to families and friends, will wash over communities and nations! Your time is here! Look around. The wave is coming. No longer will you paddle but you will STAND!”

(Reminded me of a song by Sly and The Family Stone)

I think I want his jacket…
STAND (1969)
Stand!
In the end you’ll still be you
One that’s done all the things you set out to do
Stand!
There’s a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you’re going anywhere
Stand!
For the things you know are right
It’s the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
Stand!
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal
Stand!. stand!, ooh!
Stand!. stand!, ooh!
Stand!
You’ve been sitting much too long
There’s a permanent crease in your right and wrong
Stand
There’s a midget standing tall
And a giant beside him about to fall
Stand!. stand!, ooh!
Stand!. stand!, ooh!
Stand!
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you’re saying makes sense and all
Stand!
Don’t you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be

Everybody
Stand!, stand!

To Fix Or Not To Fix

old-car1Today they will come and repair our stove. It shorted out the other day while cooking. I will need to get the car checked out after Tina was tail ended by another driver. (She is okay, has pain in her neck, shoulders and head.) The car runs and by looking at it you might not suspect the degree of damage it incurred. Other things need to be fixed.

Repairs-fixes-what do we do? Continue reading To Fix Or Not To Fix

3 Words For Today You May Want To Consider

flamesNo sooner had I completed my blog entry for today than I found myself hearing and seeing words.

I feel like we are in a season of revival, of awakening and words that encourage and change us are important. I see, as do others, far reaching change of our nation.

With that in mind I share these three words. Continue reading 3 Words For Today You May Want To Consider

The Floodgates Are Opening

Jacob 002The little old lady walked me to the door. While she walked me through the beautiful home she kept talking about travel. We reached the door and I walked down a very narrow ramp. As we reached the bottom large animals that looked much like rhinoceroses came into view, running across the front yard. We continued to speak of travel and I shared stories from trips to California and flights that had been taken.

Her parting words hit me. “You travel well.”

I awoke and thought, “do I?” Continue reading The Floodgates Are Opening

When God Says No

fearSo often in the body of Christ we get caught up in God being the ATM of all ATMs. “Ask and you shall receive” is what we learn and soon decide that is a great idea. Let me be honest in saying I sometimes pray that way, and maybe just maybe so do you if you are really honest about it.

And in the desire to give you full disclosure, I don’t always do “well” with no especially when it affects my finances. A little over a year ago, I became ill. I was so sick that I ended up losing my business. And that was on top of our home being destroyed. The good news is that the sickness was the result of environmental issues and solved by moving. The loss of income not so easily repaired. So, when my wife lost her job of nearly 12 years, things became a little more “difficult.” Continue reading When God Says No

Enjoying The Body of Christ

wedding 033Despite tech issues, I was simply reminded life is not all that serious.

Yesterday I had a simply great day with friends and family at our church gathering in New Hampshire. The music was great and the people were friendly and fun to be with. The message my friend Scott delivered was a joy to hear.

I know for many, church is not always a fun place to be. Words of condemnation coupled with guilt, pain and other hurtful feelings can often keep you from the very place of understanding and joy God has for you. I have to say my church gathering is a joy to be around. (I also need to say not all church was like that for me.) Continue reading Enjoying The Body of Christ
